Thiruvananthapuram: The supplementary examinations for all semesters of APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (Kerala Technical University) will commence on September 9, 2020.
These examinations are being held immediately to help students who have secured jobs through campus placements and those who have qualified for higher education, said Vice Chancellor M. S. Rajasree.
The VC urged students who have failed in examinations in various semesters to make use of the opportunity. Meanwhile, the students demanded to conduct the examinations online due to COVID-19.
Many students are concerned about losing jobs they had secured through campus placement as they have failed in one or two examinations. Both the students and parents had demanded to conduct the examinations and announce results soon. It is in this context that the university decided to conduct supplementary examinations.
The examinations will be held adhering to coronavirus protocols. Meanwhile, the students pointed out that Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) had held the examinations online and demanded the technical university to follow the same path.
Considering the plight of students who are stuck in various states, the university had announced examination dates earlier. The university has given students the option to choose examination centres near their homes. Students who are unable to attend these examinations can make use of upcoming opportunities.
Detailed guidelines regarding examinations for officials in charge of educational institutions will be released soon.
The university is trying to announce the results of final semester examination held in August before September 20, the VC said.
