KAS notification delayed; Many anxious of losing opportunity
Thiruvananthapuram: The notification for Kerala Administrative Service is being delayed indefinite. Even though KAS came into effect from January 1, 2018 it has not been implemented yet. If the notification is further delayed, Kerala Public Service Commission will not be able to initiate the appointment procedures this year.
It is known that the notification will be issued as soon as permission from chief minister is obtained. Even though the notification is issued within two months, the first rank list of KAS will be issued only within a year.
KAS structure has two phases of examination and interview.
The appointments through KAS will be done to three levels. The reservation will be applicable only for direct appointments via KAS. The other two system of appointments are position changes. It was demanded that reservation should be made applicable for this also. The law department also had demanded the same based on apex court verdict. But government had sought legal advice from AG in this regard.
It has been agreed that the government will decide on the exam structure after discussions with PSC. General education department will be entrusted with the duty of conducting the exam.
At the same time, promotions were made to some of the positions included in KAS which invited has invited allegations.
