Kannur, Karuna medical college admission: SC slams govt
New Delhi: The Supreme Court heavily came down on the state government against the ordinance issued in connection with the admissions to Karuna and Kannur medical colleges. The court observed that the ordinance issued was against the law.
The Supreme Court was considering the petition submitted by the Medical Council of India against the government’s move.
The apex court had earlier restrained admissions conducted by these colleges violating the guidelines put forward by the Medical Council of India and banned admissions here for this year.
The review petition submitted by the government against the ban was also rejected.
The government brought in the ordinance overruling this judgement and was trying to conduct admissions to these colleges.
“The bringing in of the ordinance can’t be justified. It is a major fault from the government,” the court said.
It also observed that the ordinance must be stayed and asked the government for detail explanation.
Court also said that violation of rules in name of students can’t be allowed.
