Choice Filling: Choice filling-in for academic programs in various Institutes has to be done at http://josaa.nic.in. Candidates have to first register using the JEE (Main) 2018 Roll Number and password. There is no fee prescribed for choice filling. A candidate may be eligible for seat allocation based on one, two or all three examinations, namely JEE (Advanced) 2018, JEE (Main) 2018 Paper-1 (B.E. / B.Tech.) and JEE (Main) 2018 Paper-2 (B.Arch. / B.Planning). In any case, only one seat from among the choices filled-in will be offered to an eligible candidate. Hence, candidates should carefully prioritize the academic programs while filling-in the choices. Candidate must select only those academic programs in her/his choices which he/she is willing to join. Choice filling can be done between 15th June 2018 and 25th June, 2018. Candidates can choose and register as many academic programs as desired, that they are willing to join in the order of preference. In between there will be 2 mock seat allocations on June 19 and June 24 based on which candidates may revise their choices latest by 5 pm on June 25, 2018. Candidates must ‘lock’ their choices on/before the last day of choice filling. If candidates do not lock their choices, last saved choices will be locked automatically upon reaching the deadline for choice filling. Candidates will not be allowed to edit their choice list after the deadline for choice filling.
Allotment and Seat acceptance: A candidate who is allocated a seat should download the ‘Provisional Seat Allocation Letter’ and an e-challan for remittance of seat acceptance fee. The seat acceptance fee will be adjusted against the admission fee by the admitting institute. The Seat Acceptance Fee is Rs.15,000/- for SC, ST, GEN-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD or ST-PwD candidates. For all other candidates, it is Rs.35,000/-. Candidates should remit seat acceptance fee using the e-challan or using SBI Net Banking and report at a Reporting Center for document verification before the last date/time specified in the time schedule of each round. Seat will be confirmed by the Reporting Centre after verification of the original documents and ensuring that the candidate meets all the eligibility norms prescribed. Failure to report in person for seat acceptance will be considered as if the candidate has rejected the offer.
Those who do not remit the seat acceptance fee and those who do not report at the reporting center after remitting the fee will lose the allotted seat. However, seat acceptance fee remitted will be refunded. However, those who reject allocated seat cannot participate any more in Joint Seat Allocation for 2018-19.
Candidates allotted seats should report in person at a Reporting Center for document verification before the date/time specified for document verification and get the seat confirmed. The list of reporting centres is available at http://josaa.nic.in.
Those allocated a seat in an NIT, IIEST, IIIT (Triple-I-T) or Other-GFTI (NIT + Institutions) have to report only at a reporting center of NIT, IIEST, IIIT (Triple-I-T) and Other-GFTI. Those allotted a seat in an IIT have to report only at a reporting centre of the IITs.
Options for subsequent rounds: At the time of accepting the seat, a candidate can opt to ‘freeze’, ‘slide’ or ‘float’ the choice of academic program for subsequent round(s), if any. Candidates accepting the offered seat and do not want to participate in further rounds of seat allocation can ‘Freeze’ the accepted choice. Such candidates will not be considered in subsequent rounds of allotement. Those who accept the offered seat and wish to be considered for an academic program of better/higher preference in any Institute may opt for ‘Float’ option. Such candidates will be considered in subsequent rounds of admission to all their remaining choices. Those who accept the offered seat and wish to be considered for an academic program of better / higher preference within the same Institute, in subsequent rounds, can select the ‘Slide’ option. Such candidates will be considered in subsequent rounds of allotment to the same institute only based on the remaining options to that institute. In Float/Slide, if change is not granted, they will continue with the currently accepted academic program. If granted, they will lose the seat accepted in the earlier round. Slide and float options are not available in the last round of seat acceptance. Except in the last round of seat allocation, a candidate can change from float to slide/freeze and slide to freeze by reporting at a reporting center.
Dual Reporting: A candidate, who accepts a seat in NIT+ Institutions, in a particular round, allocated a seat in an IIT in any subsequent round of seat allocation or Vice-versa (IITs to NIT+ category), must report at a reporting centre of the concerned new category to accept the seat within the reporting deadline of that round of seat allocation. No further/extra seat acceptance fee has to be paid at the reporting centre. In either case, the allotment of the earlier round will be cancelled. Failure to report at a reporting centre of subsequent allotment, would lead to cancellation of seat of subsequent round and the candidate will be out of JoSAA process for 2018. Only first time reporting at a reporting centre of NIT+ Institutes/IITs is required if there is no change of Institution type.
Withdrawal: A candidate, who has already accepted a seat allotted by JoSAA 2018, can withdraw the seat by reporting at a reporting center up to 6th round of seat allocation. Withdrawal facility will not be there in round 7, the last round. Candidates who have exercised withdraw option will not be considered for subsequent rounds of seat allotment. Seat acceptance fee will be refunded to these candidates after deducting the processing charges of Rs. 1500/-.
At the conclusion of joint seat allocation and seat acceptance, candidates will have to report at the admitting institute, complete all the admission formalities of the Institute, get the admission confirmed and begin the academic session. Reporting schedules at the admitting Institute will be announced on the website http://josaa.nic.in.
