Italy welcomes Indian students to its booming auto industry
Kolkata: Italy on Friday welcomed Indian students, particularly those pursuing mechanical engineering degree, and find employment in its fast growing automobile industry.
"We already have Indian students in Italy, but invite more students, who can pursue their PhD in Italy and may seek employment there," said Prof Gianpiero Mastinu, who is a full-time professor of Ground Vehicle Engineering at the country's Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Speaking on the concluding day of the Bengal Global Business Summit here, Mastinu said his country is in the process of visiting IITs and hopes to see students from India, who will chose Italy as their destination for higher education.
Mastinu, who is also the Secretary General cum Manager of Lombardy Mobility Cluster, said that the automobile industry in Italy is growing rapidly, especially in the Lombardy region.
"A considerable quantity of high tech auto parts are manufactured in Lombardy region by premium supplier companies.
Italy also is known to be among the top six world famous cars like Lamborghini, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Lancia and Ferrari," he said.
He added that his country has an excellent institute, Politecnico Milano 1863, which is number one in Italy and ranked 17th among 4,000 similar universities in the world.
There are about 42,000 students and it's a centre of high standard that invites application from final year students of Mechanical Engineering from India as the mobility industry is growing in our country," Mastinu said.
As a follow-up to the BGBS, the Lombardy Mobility Cluster will consider the projects issued by the West Bengal government, he said.
