ICAR NET in December: Apply by November 4
Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB), Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Krishi Anusandhan Bhavan-I, Pusa, New Delhi-110012, has invited applications for the ICAR-National Eligibility Test - 2019 to be held during 09.12.2019 to 15.12.2019 (tentatively) in Online mode at 32 Centres across India in a staggered slot-wise examination format.
National Eligibility Test (NET) is a qualifying examination for determining eligibility for the position of Lecturer/Assistant Professor in the State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) and other Agricultural Universities (AUs). Those clearing the National Eligibility Test will be eligible to apply for the post of Lecturers or Assistant Professors in the SAUs/AUs. NET certificates will be issued by the ASRB to the qualified candidates to enable them to apply against vacancies to be notified or advertised by the State Agricultural Universities/Agricultural Universities.
The Disciplines in which NET will be conducted and the approved eligibility qualifications are given in Appendix II of the Notification available at http://asrb.org.in/. A total of 57 disciplines have been included in the list.
Educational Qualifications: Applicant must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in the concerned Discipline and specialization completed on or before 4 November 2019 from any recognised Indian University/ other educational institution or he/she must have qualification from a foreign University recognized as equivalent by the Government of India (GoI). The Disciplines include Agricultural Biotechnology, Genetics & Plant Breeding, Plant Physiology, Animal Biochemistry, Animal Biotechnology, Animal Physiology, Dairy Chemistry, Dairy Microbiology, Dairy Technology, Veterinary Microbiology, Fish Processing Technology, Environmental Science, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Statistics, Home Science, Computer Applications & IT, Bioinformatics etc and prescribed educational qualifications include (as per Discipline) Masters in Botany, Zoology, Agricultural Engineering, Food Science, Food Technology, Computer Applications, Information Technology, Statistics, Fishery Science, Dairy Technology, Veterinary etc.
Age Limit: A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years as on 1 July 2019. There is no upper age limit for the National Eligibility Test.
Number of Attempts: There is no restriction on number of attempts for appearing in the National Eligibility Test.
Application: Online registration for the examination can be done till 5 pm on 4 November 2019 at the link given at http://asrb.org.in/. Important Instructions to the candidates for filling online application are given in Annexure-I.
Examination Centres include Anand/ Vadodara; Bengaluru, Barapani/ Shillong, Bareilly, Barrackpore/ Kolkata, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh/ Mohali, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Jammu, Jodhpur, Karnal, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Port Blair, Raipur, Rajkot, Shimla, Srinagar, Varanasi and Vijayawada. Applicants have to select two centres in order of their preference.
Applicants are not required to attach copy of any of the documents /certificates in support of their candidature at the time of submission of online application.
Application Fee: Unreserved (UR)- Rs.1000/-; General-EWS/Other Backward Class (OBC)-Rs.500/-; SC/ST/ Divyang/ Women - Rs.250/-. The fee must be paid online through the online application form available on the website http://asrb.org.in/ only using Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking by 17.00 hrs on 4 November 2019.
Plan of Examination: The Online Computer based ICAR NET will be a single paper of 2 hours duration consisting of 150 objective type multiple choice questions carrying 150 marks. Each question carries one mark. The 150 questions will be from the respective discipline in which the candidate has opted to appear. One-third mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. There will be no rounding off of fractions of marks.
The questions in the ICAR-NET-2019 Examination will be available in Hindi and English medium on the computer. The answers are to be marked on the Computer itself during the Examination.
The candidates are required to bring along the original of any of the valid Photo Identity Card like Voter Card/ Aadhar Card/ Passport/ Driver’s License/ PAN card apart from the Admission Certificate to be issued by ASRB, at the time they appear for the Examination.
Qualifying marks: The Minimum qualifying marks for different categories are as follows: Un-reserved (UR) -75.0 (50%); OBC (Non-Creamy layer)- 67.5 (45%); SC / ST/ Divyang- 60.0 (40%).
