Kochi: National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India has invited applications for admission to the 3 year, B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Administration course, 2017-18, offered at Central Government Institute of Hotel Management (21 nos), State Government Institute of Hotel Management (19), Public Sector Undertaking Institute of Hotel Management (1) and Private Institute of Hotel Management (14), with a total of 8124 seats in the 55 Institutions.
The Bachelor of Science program in Hospitality and Hotel Administration is offered jointly by the National Council for Hotel Management and the Indira Gandhi National Open University. The Three-Year (Six Semester) course equips students with all the required skills, knowledge and attitude to efficiently discharge supervisory responsibilities in the Hospitality sector.
Selection to the Programme will be based on a Joint Entrance Examination (JEE 2017) for Hospitality & Hotel Administration course which will be a written Examination, to be held from 10 am to 1 pm on 29th April 2017 (Saturday) at Ahmedabad, Bangaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Goa, Gurdaspur, Guwahati, Gwalior, Hyderabad, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Jammu, Jamshedpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Puducherry, Pune, Raipur, Shillong, Shimla, Siliguri, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram and Varanasi.
The test will have 200, objective type, multiple choice questions from (i) Numerical Ability and Analytical Aptitude (30 questions) (ii) Reasoning and Logical Deduction (30) (iii) General Knowledge & Current Affairs (30) (iv) English Language (60) and (v) Aptitude for Service Sector (50).
Each correct answer under Numerical Ability & Analytical Aptitude, Reasoning & Logical Deduction, General Knowledge & Current Affairs and English Language components carry one mark. For any wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted. In case of questions under Aptitude for Service Sector, the most appropriate answer carries 1.00, the next appropriate answer carries 0.75, the next to next appropriate answer carries 0.50 whereas the inappropriate answer shall carry negative mark of 0.25.
All India merit list of candidates shall be prepared on the basis of marks secured in the JEE Written Test. In case candidates secure equal marks, the merit will be determined by considering the higher marks in English component, higher marks in Service Aptitude Component of JEE in that order. If tie continues, the older candidate will get higher rank.
Eligibility: Applicant should have a pass in 10+2 system of Senior Secondary examination or its equivalent with English as one of the subjects and must have passed English as a subject of study (core/elective/functional) in the qualifying examination. Those appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination can also appear in JEE 2017 provisionally, subject to submission of proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) at the time of counselling or at the time of admission or latest by 30-09-2017.
Qualifying examinations for Indian students include the following
Plus two level examination in the 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education of any recognized Central/State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination or State Boards of Secondary Education.
Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.
General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University.
Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in a foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education.
H.S.C. Vocational Examination.
Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects including English as one of the Subjects.
For applicants of the General and OBC categories, upper age limit is 22 years as on 01.07.2017. Those born on or after July 01, 1995 are eligible. In the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, upper age limit is 25 years as on 01.07.2017. SC/ST applicants born on or after July 01, 1992 are eligible. Upper age limit for Physically Challenged applicants shall be reckoned as per the category he/she belongs to (General/SC/ST/OBC).
All qualified candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate at the time of admission from a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format given at Annexure-I of the Information Brochure available at http://applyadmission.net/nchmjee2017/.
Seats are reserved for SC (15%)/ST (7 ½ %)/OBC (27 %). For Physically Disabled (PD) category, 3% of seats across the board are reserved in all Central & State Government Institutes of Hotel Management. One seat (Supernumerary) in each Central and State Government affiliated IHM is provided for Registered Kashmiri Migrants. Such applicants shall have to qualify the JEE-2017. Candidates registered with different State Govt. should produce proof of registration in original at the time of Counselling and at the time of admission to the Institutes.
Application fee is Rs. 800/- for General/OBC categories and Rs.400/- for SC/ST/PD categories. It can be paid by way of Debit/Credit Card or DD. In case of payment by way of Demand Draft mode, the DD for Rs. 800/- for General/OBC categories and Rs.400/- for SC/ST/PD categories has to be drawn in favour of 'NCHMCT' payable at Noida/Delhi.
Application can be submitted online up to 14th April, 2017, at http://applyadmission.net/nchmjee2017. Applications can be submitted by uploading the applicant’s photograph and signature in the online application or without uploading the applicant’s photograph and signature in the online application.
Entries in the application form shall be required to be filled only in English. New Candidate has to create Log In (New Log In. He/she should have a valid email ID for applying online. On ‘submitting’, confirmation for the registration will be sent on the email entered. Email-ID and Date of birth as filled by applicant will be used to login to the website to fill the online application form.
Before starting to fill up the on-line application, applicant should keep ready (a) Valid Email ID (the email should be valid for at least 1 year) (b) Personal and Educational qualification details (c) Image of scanned photograph & scanned signature in jpg / jpeg format with size of each not exceeding 50 KB (in case of this mode of application) (d) Demand Draft of requisite amount (in case making payment by DD (e) Debit / Credit Card (in case making online payment)
Applicants should choose any one Test Centre for appearing in the Written Examination and indicate the same in the JEE Application Form in the appropriate column. Change of Written Test Centre within a city will not be considered. Under exceptional circumstances, change of centre may be permitted if an application with valid reasons for the change of centre is received in the JEE Cell on or before 14.04.2017 along with non-refundable fees of Rs.1000/- through Demand Draft drawn in favour of NCHMCT, payable at Delhi/NOIDA. The National Council for Hotel Management reserves the right to reject such request in case the test centre is not in a position to accommodate any extra candidate.
Registered candidates have to complete the application process in 4 steps. (i) Fill Application (ii) Uploading image (Photograph and Signature) (iii) Make Payment (iv) Print Application.
Those applying with uploading photograph & signature, and making the payment through Debit/Credit Card are not required to send the printout of the Application Form.
Those making payment of application fee by DD and those applying without uploading the photo and signature have to send the printout of the application duly completed.
The duly completed Application Form should be sent to the ‘JEE CELL, National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, A-34, Sector 62, Noida-201309’ by Registered Post / Speed Post. Application sent through private courier service will not be accepted. Application can also be submitted by hand at NCHMCT, NOIDA. The last date for receipt of Application Form at JEE Cell is 14th April, 2017. Registration Process will be completed only on receipt of duly completed Print Version of Online Application Form.
Admit card is to be downloaded in duplicate from www.nchm.nic.in or https://applyadmission.net/nchmjee2017 between 19.04.2017 and 29.04.2017. Admit Card will not be sent by post. Applicant should carefully check the Admit Card for all the entries made therein. Any discrepancy should immediately be brought to the notice of JEE Cell in the Council through email at firstname.lastname@example.org. One copy of Admit Card duly self-attested, is to be deposited with invigilator for his/her signature and same be preserved & produced for appearing during Counselling while second copy of Admit Card is required to be retained at the examination centre.
Counselling will be conducted in the last week of May 2017 and First week of June 2017. There shall be three rounds of Counselling on the basis of merit. The detailed process of counselling shall be available in the website www.nchmcounselling.nic.in along with declaration of result of Written Test in the 3rd week of May of 2017.
Each IHMs shall have three seats earmark for 10+2 rank holders (one each for Arts, Science and Commerce stream) from among 1st to 200th rank holders from respective streams from recognized Boards of school examination wherein up to 2 lacs candidates appear or 1st to 500th rank holders from Board of Examination where 2 lacs to 5 lacs candidates take examination. The inter-se-merit from recognized School Boards of examination shall be at par.
National Council has instituted Merit based Award Scheme with the help of Industry for meritorious students who obtain 1st, 2nd and 3rd position on All India basis in Council’s Annual Examination in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of the course (after completion of both the semesters of the respective year). National Council Merit-cum-means based scholarship scheme is available in the Central Institutes of Hotel Management. The scheme carries 50% refund of semester fee. Details can be obtained from the institute. Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates can avail financial assistance from their respective State Governments for which the concerned Institute will issue studentship certificate indicating fee received from the student.
Academic Session commences on 17th July, 2017.

The fee in case of Private affiliated Institutes may be downloaded from website of respective private Institute. The NCHMCT offers B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration as a six semester programme at all its affiliated institutes. It also offers Specialization at 2 of its institutes located at Chennai and Kolkata. The candidates will write the All India Entrance Examination which is common for admission to both programmes. For Specialization, limited seats are available at each of the two institutes and are offered based on performance in the 1st and 2nd semester examination.
Selection is made based on merit-cum-choice. Students can opt for any one of the three areas of Specialization- Food Production Management, Food & Beverage Management and Accommodation Operation Management. While the first three semesters are common for all the students, specialization is offered from the 4th semester onwards. No change of stream of specialization can be made after allocation. In order to become eligible for award of degree in B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration by IGNOU, students must complete the NCHMCT component as full time candidates in the affiliated Institutes of Hotel Management as well as to clear the credit papers offered by IGNOU during the course of study.
