Four Semester exams in six months for Calicut University final year UG students
Kozhikode/Kollam: The final year degree students of Calicut University have to appear for four semester exams in six months. The postponed terminal examinations of semester three to six are awaiting them in the final six months of their UG degree course.
This is beyond the supplementary and improvement exams of the first two semesters, if any.
The third-semester students who are enrolled last year are yet to appear for the end-semester examinations of the first and second semesters.
“We are at present working on declaring the pending results as early as possible. There will be an interval between the exams. Students need not worry,” Dr C C Babu, Controller of Examinations, Calicut University said.
Kerala University has decided to conduct first and second semester examinations in October itself followed by the third-semester exams. Other universities may also follow a similar schedule, officials say.
“We are not appearing for the exams of the present semester. Exams and classes are two different things for us now. They are not synced and it is difficult for us to follow,” Bhama Devi, a student of final year BA Mass Communication at SN College, Kollam, told mathrubhumi.com.
Universities did not heed to the demand for conducting online examinations by the end of semesters. Final semester examinations were held offline when Covid-19 restrictions were relaxed.
Students have approached the High Court requesting direction to assign marks based on the internal assessments. It has to be noted that the court had recently allowed the government to conduct the plus one exams.
