First ever Kerala Administrative Service notification issued; graduates can apply by December 4
Thiruvananthapuram: The first ever Kerala Administrative Service notification was issued on November 1, 2019. All aspirants can apply for KAS through one-time registration portal of Kerala Public Service Commission, till 11.59 pm on December 4, 2019.
Aspirants who have obtained graduation from recognized universities can apply for KAS. Applications are invited to three streams. In the first stream, graduates within the specified age limit can apply while in second stream, government employees with required qualifications and within the age limit can apply. In third stream, gazetted officers from selected departments and those officials included in common category including A.O and Administrative Assistant.
The exam structure and the syllabus has been included in the notification.
The preliminary exams will be held in February 2020. The dates of the main exam and interview will be notified later.
A Bachelor’s degree in any subject is the basic qualification required for KAS. The upper age limit that has been set for direct appointment is 32 years, for promotion in general category is 40 years and second promotion from first gazetted officer is 50 years.
The notification has been prepared expecting that there will be over 100 vacancies. Like in IAS, the selected candidates will be trained collectively after sending them the appointment order. The training period will be 18 months.
However, it is not yet clear if the questions for the preliminary exams will be available in Malayalam as well.
The prelims will be held for a total of 200 marks. The examination will contain two parts, the first part will have OMR questions and the second part will have language-based questions. Of the total 50 marks, English will have a weightage of 30 marks and Malayalam 20.
The main exam will be descriptive. It will have 3 sections containing 100 marks each. The interview will contain 50 marks.
