Kochi: Disaster management and first aid will be introduced in the syllabus of Higher Secondary Education from this academic year. Education department will implement the project in association with the fire and rescue department.
Career Guidance Cell State Coordinator CM Azeem said that all the HSE students in the state will be given training in August, September months. The project will be implemented by Career Guidance and Adolescent Counselling Cell.
The adverse effect floods had on students were huge. The training will help them to handle the situations courageously. The 122 fire stations in state will coordinate the training. The syllabus has been prepared by fire and rescue department.
The souhrida clubs in HSE will coordinate the activities. These clubs are functioning in 1400 schools already and will begin in 100 new schools. The first aid training for teachers under Indian Academy of Paediatrics will commence soon.
