CMAT 2017: Apply from Oct 10
Kochi: Applications can be submitted from October 10, 2016 for the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT), a national level entrance examination conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year as per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, for admission in all Management programmes.
The CMAT score is accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges.
CMAT 2017 will be conducted on 28th & 29th January 2017. There will be no different time slots. Test will begin at 9.30 am on 28th & 29th January, 2017. Candidates are required to arrive at the test centre latest by 8 am for Security checks, Identity verification, and check-in.
List of Test Cities is given at http://www.aicte-cmat.in/college/test-cities.aspx. Applicant can select up-to 3 cities in India giving order of preference towards test city. The first choice of city will be given due consideration and weightage. However, actual allotment as per order of choice will be subject to availability of the slot in that particular city.
The CMAT is a three hour computer based online test which is conducted in a single session to evaluate the candidate’s ability across 4 segments like Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness. The Test of 3 hours duration will have four sections each with 25 questions carrying a maximum of 100 marks.
The sections are (i) Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation (ii) Logical Reasoning (iii) Language Comprehension and (iv) General Awareness. For each wrong answer 1 mark shall be deducted. A Trial test will be available from 15th December 2016 onwards for the candidates to have a feel of the online test and navigation functionality. Candidates may go through them carefully to familiarize themselves with the screens, layout, and navigation.
At the test venue, each candidate will be seated at a desk with a computer terminal and he/she will be provided with a scratch paper for calculations. After the test, candidate must leave the scratch paper at the desk. Rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet, as nothing will be allowed inside the testing room. No breaks will be given during the test.
Applicant must be a citizen of India and a Graduate in any discipline. Final year students of Graduate Courses (10+2+3) whose result will be declared before commencement of admission for academic year 2017-18 can also apply for CMAT online exam. There is no age restriction for appearing in CMAT.
The fee for General / OBC candidates is Rs.1400/-. For Female /SC/ST/PWD category candidates, the fee is Rs.700/-. Bank charges as applicable will have to be paid.
Online registration for CMAT January 2017 will begin on 10th October 2016 and close on 10th December 2016 at www.aicte-cmat.in. Detailed instructions for the online application and registration process are available at www.aicte-cmat.in.
For registering online, applicant should have a Computer with good Internet connectivity so that there is no breakage of Internet during registration.
They should also have the following documents before commencement of registration (i) all the qualification details as they will be required to be entered while registering (ii) a scanned clear photo taken on a white background with size 140 x 160 (≤ 60Kb) for uploading (iii) scanned clear signature done on a white background of size 60 x 90 (≤ 30Kb) for uploading (iv) a Valid e-mail id which applicant will be using at least for the next 6 months (all communication will be done on this e-mail id) (v) a Valid mobile number as all information via SMS will be sent to this number (vi) A valid Credit / Debit card in case payment is being made online (vii) A Printer connected to the system to PRINT 3 copies of Challan in case payment is being made by cash at the bank.
Registering for CMAT is a 3 Step process. In Step-1, applicant needs to read Instructions and do Self Registration. Initially, applicant will have to enter as ‘New User’. Here applicant should read the instructions carefully, accept the declaration and proceed to do Self Registration. Applicant will have to enter few basic details. Once the ‘Submit’ is given this page, applicant cannot edit any data entered on this page. Submitting this page will generate a unique 6 digit password. This password will be shown on the screen and will be sent to the applicant via E-mail and SMS. Subsequent logins should be as ‘Existing User’ and login should be with applicants e-mail id and this unique 6 digit password. This completes self-registration.
In Stage 2, application fee has to be paid. This can be done online by using Credit card / Debit card / Net Banking. Once payment is successfully done, applicant will receive a confirmation E-mail and SMS. Once the successful payment confirmation has been received, applicant may proceed with the remaining part of registration process. If ‘Cash’ payment mode is used, applicant will see a Challan on the screen with applicant’s details already filled in it. Applicant need to take 3 printouts, fill in the details wherever required in all the copies and make the payment in cash in any branch of SBI, on the next day of generation of Challan.
The last date to pay cash in bank is 11th December 2016 and from there onwards to complete registration is 13th December 2016. Submission of final application after payment will not be possible after 13th December, 2016.
In return to the cash Deposit, the bank will return one copy of Challan with their stamp and a Journal number written on it. In the next 48 hours after payment, the payment will get updated in the registration portal. Applicant will receive an E-mail and SMS confirming that payment data has got updated in the registration portal. Applicant should then re login to the portal and proceed with the remaining part of registration process.
In Step 3, applicant needs to fill the remaining part of the form. Once applicant has filled the complete form, he/she should once again check the complete data entered by clicking on ‘View/Modify’ button. Clicking on ‘View/Modify’ button will allow applicant to modify data in case modification is needed. Once applicant is sure that all the data entered is accurate, applicant has to accept a declaration and click on ‘I Agree’. The system will re-confirm to applicant for ‘Submit’. Once confirmed, the form will get finally ‘Submitted’ and no change in the data is possible after this ‘Submit’. Applicant will see a message on screen stating ‘Thank you for successfully registering for the AICTE CMAT 2017 exam. Please login from 13th January, 2017 onwards to download your exam Admit Card. For latest updates, please visit www.aicte-cmat.in’. Applicant may click on ‘Preview’ button to view the filled form. Applicant may also ‘Print’ the filled form and keep a copy for reference. This completes the registration process.
Those appearing for test in India will need to bring the following identification documents on the test day (a) Self Attested Copy of CMAT 2017 Admit Card with recent passport size photo pasted on it (b) At least one original (not photocopied / scanned copy) and valid (not expired) photo identification with name on photo identification matching the name as entered in the CMAT application. Acceptable forms of photo identification types are limited to Driver's license, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, UID card or a notarized Affidavit (in English) with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address. Photocopies of the original are not acceptable. Candidates will not be permitted to take the test if photo identification is not presented. SC/ST candidates are required to bring the valid caste certificate in Original and an attested photocopy. Physically Disabled candidates are required to bring the valid Disability certificate in Original and an attested photocopy. Attestation can be done by institute head also.
Candidates are allowed to leave the exam hall only after the scheduled three hours of exam are over. One will not be able to leave in between the exam even if he/she finishes the exam early.
CMAT has been designed to assess all the candidates who appear in the test based on their aptitude towards the management education in the order of their merit. The objective of the test is not to eliminate the candidates from the process of seeking admission in the AICTE approved management programmes, rather to facilitate the institutions to select the suitable candidates as per their merit. There is no sectional cut off in the CMAT examination.
The CMAT 2017 exam score will be valid for the admissions to academic year 2017-18 only.
