Malappuram: The Director of Public Instruction (DPI) has issued a circular allowing students to wear non-uniform to schools on birthday. The circular noted that the teachers and school management should not scold or mentally torture the children for not wearing uniform on their birthday.
The Director of Public Instruction (DPI) has issued the circular after receiving a complaint from a school student in Thiruvananthapuram.
In the complaint, the student stated that teachers scolded and mentally tortured him for wearing new dress on his birthday. Considering this complaint, the DPI has forwarded a letter to all Deputy Directors of Public Instruction (DDPI) across the state.
Similar complaints were raised from many schools in the state. Parents also complained that some schools especially private schools are taking stern action against wearing non-uniform on birthday.
In view of these complaints, the DPI has taken action to allow students to wear colour dress on birthday.
