CBSE XII exams not to be cancelled; dates to be announced next week
New Delhi: The high level meeting convened on Sunday to decide on the conduct of CBSE class 12 examinations left the matter for the consideration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Various states demanded that the exams should be conducted in September in view of the future of the students. The high level meeting was held under the leadership of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. It is learnt that the dates of exams will be announced next week.
The high-level virtual meeting was attended by Education Ministers, Education Secretaries and Chairpersons of State Examination Boards and all stakeholders of the States and Union Territories (UT).
The meeting was chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in presence of Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Zubin Irani and Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar.
In view of the prevailing Covid situation, almost all the state education boards, CBSE and ICSE had postponed their Class 12 examinations.
In a tweet Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that the states have been asked to send detailed suggestions on pending Class 12 board exams by May 25. He added that he wants to reiterate that both students' and teachers' safety, security, and future are supremely important.
