CBSE mulling cancellation of class 12 exams
New Delhi: The CBSE is mulling over cancellation of class 12 examinations considering the second wave of Covid-19 in the country. High level source of the ministry of education informed that a decision in this regard will be taken within two weeks.
Earlier, the CBSE had postponed the Class 12 exams which was scheduled in April due to the surge in Covid cases. The board also informed that the decision on the exam will be taken considering the situation till June 1 and that the exam will be announced 15 days prior to the schedule.
The Covid transmission multiplied to four times in comparison to the previous year. The Indian Council of Medical Research also recommended lockdown in districts where test positivity rate is higher than 10 percent.
With this, the officials in the ministry of education made it clear that conducting the exam in this situation is not practical. The CBSE will also take a decision on the score to be given to the students, if the exams are cancelled.
When the class 10 exams were cancelled, it was directed to give scores according to the performance of the students till then. If this strategy seems unsatisfactory, exams can be conducted later, the board had suggested.
