CBSE Chemistry exam: No log book allowed but questions of 15 marks need log data; Students baffled
Thrissur: Due to the negligence of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), students who appeared for Plus Two Chemistry examination had a hard time. The students were put in dilemma due to the vague instructions for using logarithm table in the exam hall.
The CBSE exam controller had informed in advance that log table and Clark’s table will not be allowed and the data for finding the answers will be provided in the question paper itself. The superintendents of the exam centres received the letter in this regard only on Monday.
It was found only after the exam commenced on Tuesday that there were questions for 15 marks which need to be answered with the help of log table. But the question paper contained no data helpful for answering.
When the CBSE officials noticed the mistake, they sent WhatsApp messages to the Superintendents of exam centres directing to provide log table for the students. However, many of them read the messages only after the exam was finished. Some others who noticed the messages already hesitated to distribute log table due to confusions whereas students were given log table in some centres.
Many students complained that it took a lot of time to find the answers as no log table or other helpful data was provided. They could not answer all questions due to this. Some parents and schools have lodged a complaint with the CBSE regarding the issue.
