BITSAT 2020: Apply by March 31
Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, an all India Institution declared as Deemed to be University, and an Institutes of Eminence, as recently announced by MHRD, Govt. of India, has invited applications for admissions to its Integrated First Degree programmes offered at Pilani campus, Goa campus, and Hyderabad Campus for the academic year 2020-21.
Admissions to all campuses and courses will be made on the basis of a Computer based Online Test conducted by BITS, Pilani- ‘BITS Admission Test-2020’ (BITSAT-2020).
Programmes: The Integrated First degree programmes to which admissions will be made on the basis of BITSAT-2020 are the following:
BITS, Pilani-Pilani Campus: B.E: Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics & Instrumentation, Mechanical, Manufacturing; B.Pharm; M.Sc.: Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, Physics and M.Sc.: General Studies.
BITS,Pilani-K. K. Birla Goa Campus: B.E.: Chemical, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Instrumentation, Mechanical; M.Sc.: Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, and Physics.
BITS, Pilani-Hyderabad Campus: B.E.: Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Instrumentation, Mechanical, Biotechnology; B.Pharm.; M.Sc.: Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, Physics.
Eligibility: Applicant should have passed the Class 12 examination of 10+2 system, from a recognized Central or State board, in 2019 or should be appearing for the final examination of the 10+2 Programme in 2020.
Those who have passed the 12th examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are eligible for admission to all the Programmes. Those who have passed 12th examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology are eligible for admission to B.Pharm course only.
Applicant should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology in 12th examination, with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/ Biology subjects. Applicants should have adequate proficiency in English.
Those presently studying in BITS at any of its campuses are not eligible to appear in BITSAT-2020.
Selection process: Admissions will be made based on the merit in the BITS Admission Test (BITSAT) 2020, a Computer based Test that will be offered during the period from 16 May 2020 to 25 May 2020. Applicants can choose the Center, the day and time of his/her convenience to take the test. BITSAT-2020: BITSAT 2020 will be of 3-hour duration without break. The test consists of 150 objective type, multiple choice questions in four parts- Part I: Physics (40 questions); Part II: Chemistry (40); Part III : (a) English Proficiency (15) and (b) Logical Reasoning (10) and Part IV : Mathematics or Biology (45).
If a candidate answers all the 150 questions, without skipping any question and if there is still time left, the candidate will have an option of attempting 12 extra questions, 4 each from, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology. Further, once the candidate has opted for extra questions, he/she cannot go back for correction of any of the earlier answered 150 questions.
Syllabus: Syllabus of the test is available in the Information Brochure. Sample Test will be available at the BITS website in due course.
All the questions and instructions of the test will be in English only. Candidates should bring a pen for the purpose of rough work, signing etc. Blank sheets for rough work will be provided, if required. Calculators and logarithmic tables are not allowed in the test centers.
Scoring: Each correct answer gets 3 marks, while each incorrect answer will result in loss of 1 mark.
Score of BITSAT: At the completion of the test, the computer will announce the result to the candidate in terms of number of total correct answers and wrong answers, with the score. The candidate can also check his/her score report at the BITS admission website on the next day of his/her test date. The candidate can also take a printout of the score report for any further usage. No student will be allowed to repeat the test in the same year.
Direct Admission to Board Toppers: First rank students of all the central and state boards in India for the year 2020 will be given direct admission to the program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT-2020 score as per the eligibility criteria mentioned above. Further details about this scheme will be available at BITS admission website by 15th of May 2020.
Application: Applications can be submitted online at http://www.bitsadmission.com latest by 5 pm on 31 March 2020. Application fee is Rs. 3300/- for male applicants and Rs. 2800/- for female applicants. For those choosing Dubai as a test center the application fee for both male and female will be US $90 (Rs.6300). Details for payment of fees are available at the admission website while applying online. Applicant may take the printout of the filled-in form for future reference.
Revision/editing (online) in the application form can be done by candidates during 1st April to 6th April, 2020.
Test center allotment and announcement to candidates will be made on 9th April, 2020.
Applicants will be required to reserve Test date and slot during 10 April 2020 to 18 April 2020.
Candidates have to download the Hall tickets with instructions between 20 April 2020 and 12 May 2020.
Admission: All candidates who appear in BITSAT-2020 and are interested in admission will be required to submit Admission application form with 12th marks and preferences to different degree programmes offered at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses, during the period from 18th May 2020 to 18th June, 2020.
