Kochi: This admission season seems to be tough for private self-financing medical colleges, as the Advisory Supervisory Committee headed by Justice J.M James leaves no opportunity to take action against erring medical colleges. As part of the measures to ensure transparency in medical admission, the Committee again issued notice to seven private self-financing medical colleges which failed to publish details of individual applications received by them.
The medical colleges which received warning from the ASC are Kerala Medical College, Palakkad, Believers Church Medical College, Thiruvalla, Azeezia Institute of Medical Sciences, Kollam , Al Azhar Medical College, Thodupuzha, SR Medical College, Varkala, SUT Medical College, Thiruvanathapuram and Travancore Medical College, Kollam.
As per the admission schedule issued by the Committee, 9th September 2016 was the last date for submission of online application for Management/NRI Quota seats. The medical colleges are supposed to publish details of individual applications on their website on 10th September 2016. But the ASC found that the some medical colleges did not publish the details as required.
Terming it as violation of the directives issued, the Committee stated, "Only when such publication is effected, the applicant will be able to notify or point out the defects, if any, in the application. For transparency of admissions and to ensure merit, such procedure is necessary."
The ASC further directed the Principals of such medical colleges to immediately publish the individual online application details in their website and give opportunity to the applicants to point out defects, as ordered.
"The publication of eligible candidates shall be done only thereafter," the Committee clarified.
"If the above procedure is not adopted, the admissions effected will not be accepted and the same will be considered as having done in violation of the ASC directive dated 04.08.2016 and the Prospectus approval order dated 02.09.2016," the ASC noted.
