ASC cancels MBBS admissions to 2 SF MCs
Kochi: Asserting that there will be no compromise to ensure transparent admission for MBBS Course, the Admission Supervisory Committee headed by Justice J.M James has today cancelled all MBBS admissions of 2016-17 made by Karuna Medical College and Kannur Medical College.
"All the applicants, who may have applied to Kannur Medical College/Karuna Medical College otherwise than through online applications, as per the approval order dated 09.09.2016, are directed to apply again through online and obtain admissions. No other admissions will be accepted by the ASC and KUHS will not register them for MBBS course," the order stated.
The Admission Supervisory Committee was monitoring the websites of both the medical colleges. While monitoring the websites of the Medical Colleges, there were no appropriate link for the applicants to apply online for MBBS admission 2016-17. The Committee also verified with MPMCMA website which is an alternative site provided by the Kannur Medical College. The said website also do not provide any link for MBBS admission 2016-17.
Stating that the medical colleges are trying to avoid a transparent admission for MBBS course, the Committee noted, "The present act of both the medical colleges, in not obeying the directions issued by the ASC has compromised the entire admission procedure. It flouted the directions as well as the provisions of Act XIX of 2006. Various judgments of High Court of Kerala and the Supreme Court of India is given a goby by the Medical College. These actions of the Medical Colleges are constitutional violations and outright rejection of statutory provisions as well."
The Committee further directed the medical colleges to call only online applications, the last date being 19.09.2016. Such admitted candidates, complying with the procedure of the ASC alone, shall be approved by the ASC and recommended for registration by KUHS.
The medical colleges are further directed to reply the compliance of these directions and orders, failing which the Committee will proceed against the medical colleges.
