AICTE Guidelines on approval of Design/Vocational courses
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Nelson Mandela Marg, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi-110070, has notified the modalities related to the approval of Technical courses under Design programme and Vocational courses.
It has been notified that all the institutes engaged in running Technical Course under various Programmes need to have mandatory prior Approval of AICTE in accordance with section 10 and 11 of AICTE Act, 1987 and Regulations 2016. Any institute not having prior approval from AICTE and conducting Technical courses are dealt in accordance with paras 9 and 10 of AICTE Regulations, 2016, notified in the Gazette of India
AICTE has published the Approval Process Handbook (APH), detailing the documents to be attached to the application, the fee to be remitted, the norms and standards, requirements and the procedure by which the applications are processed for grant of approval of existing Institutions.
The institutions offering Technical Programmes in Engineering and Technology, Pharmacy, Architecture, Management, MCA, Hotel Management, Catering Technology & Applied Arts and Crafts are required to take necessary approval from AICTE as per Approval Process Handbook (APH).
Besides above, any institution offering Technical Programmes such as Design (B.Des/ M.Des), Vocational (Technical) Courses: (B. Voc / D. Voc) are also required to take necessary approval from All India Council for Technical Education.
All such institutes running or planning to introduce courses outlined above shall apply on AICTE web-portal in Academic Year 2019-20, for which AICTE shall invite applications through separate public notification.
The State Governments and Universities have also been requested to ensure that institutes running above courses have prior approval of AICTE before affiliating these institutes.
