AFCAT 2020: Apply by July 14
Indian Air Force has invited applications from men and women for admission to various courses of the Indian Air Force leading to appointment as Commissioned Officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches.
Applications are invited for entries through the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) - 02/2020 [Short Service Commission (SSC) in Flying Branch and Permanent Commission (PC) and Short Service Commission (SSC) in Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branches]; NCC Special Entry [PC/ SSC for flying branch] and Meteorology Entry [PC/ SSC] for courses commencing in July 2021
Type of Commission: (a) PC for Men- Those joining as PC officers would continue to serve till the age of superannuation as per their branch and rank (b) SSC for Men & Women- (i) The engagement period for Flying Branch SSC officers is 14 years from the date of Commissioning (Non extendable) (ii) The initial tenure for SSC officers in Ground Duty (Tech and Non-Tech) branches would be for a period of ten years. An extension of four years may be granted subject to service requirements, availability of vacancies, willingness, suitability and merit.
Eligibility: For Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical) Branch; those with BE/BTech/equivalent in specified branches are eligible. Details are given in the Notification at http://careerairforce.nic.in/
Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches: (aa) Administration-Passed 10+2 and Graduate Degree (Minimum three years degree course) in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. (ab) Education-Passed 10+2 and Post-Graduation with 50% in any discipline including integrated courses offering PG (Single degree without permission to exit and lateral entry) and with 60% marks in Graduation in any discipline.
Meteorology-Post Graduate Degree in any Science stream/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Geography/ Computer Applications/ Environmental Science/ Applied Physics/ Oceanography/ Meteorology/ Agricultural Meteorology/ Ecology & Environment/ Geophysics/ Environmental Biology with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together (Provided Maths and Physics were studied at Graduation Level with a minimum of 55% marks in each).
Age: (a) Flying Branch-20 to 24 years as on 1st July 2021. Upper age limit for those holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 years (b) Ground Duty (Technical/ Non-Technical) Branches-20 to 26 years as on 1st July 2021.
AFCAT: AFCAT will be held on 19th September 2020 (Saturday) or 20th September 2020 (Sunday). It is mandatory for the candidates opting for Ground Duty (Technical) branch to appear in both AFCAT as well as Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT).
AFCAT will be online test. AFCAT of 2 hours duration will have 100 questions from General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning and Military Aptitude. EKT of 45 minutes duration (for Candidates with one of the choices as (Technical) Branch) will have 50 questions from Mechanical, Computer Science and Electrical & Electronics. Application: Applications can be submitted at https://careerindianairforce.cdac.in or at https://afcat.cdac.in latest by 14th July 2020. Application is to be registered online through separate tabs available for AFCAT Entry/ NCC Special Entry/ Meteorology Entry. Those eligible for one/ more entries are to register separately in each entry. Those registering for AFCAT entry will have to pay an amount of Rs. 250/- as examination fee. However, those registering for NCC Special entry and Meteorology Entry are not required to pay any fee.
