NISER

National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, has invited applications for admission to M.Sc. Programme in Medical and Radiological Physics offered at the Center for Medical and Radiation Physics.

The program has been designed according to the syllabus prescribed by the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai and has a rigorous curriculum with emphasis on physics, radiology and its medical applications.Degree will be awarded byHomi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai.

Course contents include Classical Mechanics, Statistical mechanics and thermodynamics, Mathematical Physics, Electrodynamics, Quantum Mechanics, Electronics and Instrumentation, Solid State Physics, Nuclear Physics, Radiation Physics and Radiation Generators, Radiological Mathematics, Radiation detectors and instrumentation, Radiation dosimetry and standardization, Clinical and Radiation Biology, Medical Imaging, Radiation Therapy, Radiation Safety etc.

There will also be Laboratory course on Electronics and Solid State Physics; Modern Physics and Nuclear Physics; Nuclear, Radiation and Solid State Physics; Radiation therapy, Safety and Instrumentation.

Duration of the course which admits 10 students is3 years including 1-year mandatory internship.

Eligibility: Applicant should possess a minimum of First class in bachelor’s degree in Physical Sciences or an equivalent degree with Physics as one of the main subjects from a recognized University. Those who are appearing in their Final Examination for bachelor’s degree can also apply provided they submit an undertaking that they will submit the Qualifying degree certificates by the time of interview.

Applicants will be shortlisted based on JAM 2023 / JEST 2023 mark. This will be followed by an interview for the final selection of candidates.

Shortlist will be announced on 31st May 2023 (Tentative Date). Test/Interview will be during 3rd July 2023 to 6th July 2023.

All those called for Interview will be paid to and from single second sleeper class railway or bus fare by the shortest route from their place of residence to the Institute (both way) subject to producing evidence (railway / bus ticket), a copy of their call letter and bank details in support of their claim.

Those admitted will get a Fellowship ofRs. 16,000/- p.m. + HRA and Contingency as per DAE rules, during Master’s program.
