Pathanamthitta: The National Medical Commission has given the permission to start medical courses in the proposed college in Konni from this academic year onwards, Kerala health minister Veena George announced.

With much happiness and pride, let me convey to you that Konni Medical College can admit 100 students this year, she said in a Facebook post.

The college building was completed with the fund from Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB). Timely intervention and proper planning helped in achieving this, the minister said.

This is the second medical college getting permission in Kerala this year. Earlier, Idukki Medical College got permission to admit 100 students.

Minister said that two more nursing colleges in Kollam and Manjeri medical colleges are also in the pipeline.
