Kochi: Kerala High Court has ordered to send notice to the Calicut University vice-chancellor in the plea challenging his appointment.

Justice Devan Ramachandran is hearing the plea filed by KPCTA state president Dr T Mohammed Ali citing that the appointment of Prof MK Jayaraj as VC was in violation of the UGC regulations.

Jayaraj is already facing the axe of chancellor Arif Mohammed Khan following the removal of technological university VC by the supreme court.

Mohammed Ali argues that the search committee for the appointment of Jayaraj included the chief secretary of the state violating UGC regulations. Recently, the HC had revoked the appointment of the VC of Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies over irregularities in forming the search committee.
