Thiruvananthapuram: The modified exam manual does not carry any instruction regarding the conduct of Higher Secondary half-yearly examinations. Instructions have been issued to conduct class-level exams and were accepted by Education Minister V Sivankutty in the meeting held with teachers' associations.

The manual would be modified after the Department of General Education issues a detailed order. The instruction for revaluation by at least two teachers has been included in the manual. If there is considerable change in the mark, a third person will evaluate the paper.

The opposition has voiced disapproval over the instruction to include more papers for evaluation. Organisations have also requested not to take action against teachers for slight differences in evaluation.

According to the Khader committee report, special seminars will be held in Kozhikode, Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram zones to get rid of concerns regarding the merger.

Counting the students for finalising the appointment to government-aided schools and staff fixation is under review. Discussions will be held with the management of aided schools regarding staff fixation. It was also decided to hold adalaths in all districts to settle the files in education offices.
