Joint CSIR-UGC NET Examination December-2022/June-2023: Apply by April 10

National Testing Agency (NTA) has notified the Joint CSIR-UGC NET Examination December-2022 / June-2023 to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for Lectureship (LS) /Assistant Professor in Indian Universities and Colleges.

The Examination will be held in (i) Chemical Sciences (ii) Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences (iii) Life Sciences (iv) Mathematical Sciences and (v) Physical Sciences. Medium of the Paper will be Bi-lingual (English and Hindi).

It will be a Computer Based Test (CBT) of 180 minutes (03 hours) duration and will consist of Objective Type, Multiple Choice Questions and will be held on 6,7,8 June 2023. The detailed structure of the tests is given in the Information Bulletin at https://csirnet.nta.nic.in

Joint CSIR-UGC NET Fellowships are tenable in Universities/IITs/Post Graduate Colleges/Govt. Research Establishments including those of the CSIR, Research & Development establishments of recognized public or private sector industrial firms and other recognized institutions.

Eligibility: Applicant should be an Indian Citizen. Applicant should hold an M.Sc. or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/ BS-4 years/ BE/ B. Tech/ B. Pharma/MBBS with at least 55% marks (50% for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST, Third gender and PwD candidates). Those enrolled for M.Sc. or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination as on the closing date of online submission of Application Form, are also eligible to apply in the above subjects, under the Result Awaited (RA) category on the condition that they complete the qualifying degree with requisite percentage of marks within two years from the date of declaration of Joint CSIR-UGC NET Test result, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

B.Sc. (Hons.) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in Integrated MSPhD program with at least 55% marks (50% for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST, third gender, PwD candidates) are also eligible to apply.

Those with Bachelor’s degree will be eligible for CSIR fellowship only after getting registered/enrolled for Ph.D./Integrated Ph.D. program within the validity period of two years. Those possessing only Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply only for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and not for Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professor.

B.E./ B.S./ B.Tech./ B.Pharma/ MBBS final year/result awaited candidates are eligible to apply for fellowship only. These candidates will not be eligible for Lectureship/Assistant professor.

B.Sc. (Hons.) final year/Result awaited candidates are not eligible to apply.

Age limit: For JRF, upper age limit will be 28 years as on 01/07/2022, relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST/Third gender/Persons with Disability (PwD) / female applicants and 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) applicants. There is no upper age limit for Lectureship (LS)/ Assistant Professor.

One may apply either for ‘Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)’ or ‘Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professor’. He/she may indicate his/her preference in the Online Application, as the case may be. If a candidate applies for JRF and fulfils the laid down eligibility criteria for Lectureship/Assistant Professor also, such a candidate will be considered for both JRF & LS/Assistant Professor. Option/preference given by the candidate in his/her application form is final and request for change will not be entertained at any later stage.

The total number of candidates who will qualify depends on the number of fellowships available and performance in the test, subject to the condition that they fulfil the laid down eligibility criteria. If a candidate is found to be over- age for JRF (NET), he/she will be automatically considered for Lectureship/Assistant Professor (NET) only. Candidates with M.Sc. qualification OR under M.Sc. Result Awaited (RA) category shall be eligible for Lectureship (LS)/Assistant Professor subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria as laid down by the UGC.

Application: Online Application Form can be submitted at https://csirnet.nta.nic.in latest by 5 pm on 10.04.2023.

Application Fee is Rs.1100/- for General category. It will be Rs. 550/- for General-EWS/OBC(NCL) and Rs. 275/- for SC/ST and Third gender. There is no application fee for PwD category. Application Fee can be paid till 11.50 pm on 10.04.2023 using Debit/Credit Card/UPI or Internet Banking.

Correction Window will be open during12.04.2023 to 18.04.2023.
