Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur will organize the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2023, the national level examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects’ in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts.

Papers for GATE: GATE 2023 will be a computer-based test (CBT), and will have the following papers- Aerospace Engineering; Agricultural Engineering; Architecture and Planning; Biomedical Engineering; Biotechnology; Civil Engineering; Chemical
Engineering; Computer Science & Information Technology; Chemistry; Electronics and Communication Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Environmental Science & Engineering; Ecology and Evolution; Geomatics Engineering; Geology and
Geophysics; Instrumentation Engineering; Mathematics; Mechanical Engineering; Mining Engineering; Metallurgical Engineering; Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering; Petroleum Engineering; Physics; Production & Industrial Engineering; Statistics; Textile Engineering & Fibre Science; Engineering Sciences; Humanities and Social Sciences; Life Sciences.One may appear either in one or two papers. Those who choose 2 papers, the combination must be from the approved list and subject to the availability of infrastructure and date.

GATE 2023 Examination will be conducted at specific centres in selected cities and towns in India, and a few cities outside India.

Eligibility & Opportunities: Those who are currently studying in 3 rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program or has already completed any government approved degree program in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts, are eligible to appear for GATE 2023.

Qualified GATE score can be used for seeking admission and/or financial assistance to: (i) Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts; and (ii) Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Arts and Science, in the institutions supported by the MoE and other Government agencies, subject to fulfilling the admission criteria of the admitting institutes. The GATE score is also used by some colleges and institutions for admitting students without MoE scholarship/assistantship. Further, many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have been using GATE score in their recruitment process.

Examination Dates: GATE 2023 will be held on 4 February 2023, 5 February 2023, 11 February 2023 and 12 February 2023.

Registration: Online Registration for GATE 2023 will open on 30 August 2022 (Tuesday) and close on 30 September 2022 (Friday) at https://gate.iitk.ac.in.

Extended Online Registration, with late fees will close on 7 October 2022 (Friday).

Application Fees: Application Fees (per paper) for the Regular Period- Female/SC/ST/PwD- Rs. 850/-; Others - Rs. 1700/-. For Extended Period, it will be Rs.1350/- and Rs.2200/- respectively.

Results will be announced on 16 March, 2023 (Thursday).

GATE 2023 score will remain valid for 3 years from the date of announcement of results.
