The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi has started a self-paced free online course on Indian Constitution.
The 20-hour-long course titled Know Your Constitution is hosted on the Kerala Youth Leadership Academy (KYLA) website.
The learner has to create an account in the KYLA LMS platform to enrol in the course.
Advocate General K Gopalakrishna Kurup inaugurated the course on Thursday.
The course aims “to create awareness among the youth about the importance of our Constitution, its basic tenets, Fundamental rights, Directive principles, Governance system, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc., and other basic knowledge about Indian Polity,” the website reads.
The objectives of the course are to provide a birds-eye view of the basic concepts of the Indian constitution, to provide a basic understanding of fundamental rights and fundamental duties enshrined in the Constitution, and to provide an overview of the Governance system - Union, State and Local Government - legislature, executive and judiciary
Learning outcomes:
- the text of the Constitution and constitutional structure in democracy
- the key values of the Constitution functioning of the Constitution
- Basic rights and duties of every citizen
- Basic structure and function of the Government
