Ciza Thomas, MS Rajasree

Thiruvananthapuram: Dr Ciza Thomas, the temporary vice-chancellor of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), has been removed as senior joint director of the directorate of technical education.

Interestingly, the state government appointed Dr MS Rajasree, the former VC of KTU, as the new senior joint director. Rajasree was removed as VC of KTU by the Supreme Court last year. Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, who is also the chancellor of KTU, appointed Ciza Thomas at KTU by rejecting the recommendations of the state government. It irked the government which then challenged the action in the high court. A few days ago, the court gave a favourable verdict for the government saying it can replace Ciza if it wishes to.

Ciza Thomas was holding the offices of senior joint director and vice-chancellor. She will retire from service in April. The government has also recommended the governor to appoint a new VC in-charge at KTU based on the HC verdict.

The government order states that Rajasree was appointed following her request to return to the state service.
