‘Dare to Dream 4.0’ innovation contest of DRDO: Apply by February 28

Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has invited entries for its innovation contest ‘Dare to Dream 4.0’; to promote individuals & startups for innovation in defence and aerospace technologies in the country for realizing the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.

The contest aims to unearth disruptive ideas and concepts in emerging technologies identified by DRDO for enhancing defence capabilities.

DRDO has launched the fourth edition of its innovation contest, as a tribute to the visionary, the legendary former President and eminent scientist, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam who first espoused the vision of self-reliance and India’s very own development model.

The challenge areas are: Digital Twining of Human Organs; Plasmonic Applications for Defence; Collaborative Dual Arm Manipulation for Robots; Target Seeking and Proximity Sensing Technologies; Quantum Algorithms for Image Processing and Machine Learning Applications; Countermeasures for Drone and Swarm of Drones; Directed Energy Technologies; Cognitive Listening Device; Bonding Technologies between Composite and Metals for High Temperature Applications; Open Category : Exploring unthinkable and unimaginable

Entries can be submitted by Individuals who should be Citizen of India above 18 years of age or by Start-ups, controlled by Indians and recognized by Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (DPIIT).

Applications can be submitted online at https://drdo.res.in/dare2dream4/ latest by 28.2.2023.

Applications are to be submitted either in Individual or Start-up category. An individual having start-up may apply in the capacity of Individual as well as Start-up. Maximum of 4 members including one defined Team leader can participate under individual category.

An individual or start-up can apply for not more than five area of challenge either against one problem or more than one problem. Applicant should provide a write-up of 200 words for each challenge selected. Applicant can also submit attachments (PDF format, less than 5 MB) with more details for the submission.

The entries received will be judged by a two-stage process. In stage 1 entries will be screened by Domain Expert Committee and in the second stage, there will be short-listing and ranking by Independent Expert Committee.

Under Individual category, the first three positions will carry cash prizes of Rs,5 lakhs, Rs.4 lakhs and Rs.3 lakhs respectively. For start up category, it will be Rs.10 lakhs, Rs.8 lakhs and Rs.6 lakhs respectively.
