Curriculum revision: Teachers have to pass exam to get into panel of textbook composition

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has decided to conduct an examination for teachers to select a panel for preparing the new textbooks. A list will be prepared based on the test.

New textbooks will be launched for students in classes 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 in June 2024 as part of the curriculum revision. The State Council of Education, Research and Training (SCERT) will carry out activities for the composition of new textbooks from April 1.

A total of 2013 teachers applied to sit for the examination at the District Institute of Education and Training. They will be tested for their ability to write in the language comprehensible to the students in the respective classes. The council will select 750 teachers. The rank list will be published within a month.

The composition of textbooks will begin in the first week of April and end by October. The curriculum was revised for the last time in 2013.

The revised textbooks for classes 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 will be made available in the academic year 2025-26. The activities for this will begin in April 2024.
