The Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) will conduct the Common Admission Test 2022 (CAT 2022) for admission to various Post Graduate and Fellow/Doctorate programmes of IIMs, on November 27, 2022 in three sessions.
Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are located at Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Bodh Gaya, Calcutta, Indore, Jammu, Kashipur, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Nagpur, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Sambalpur, Shillong, Sirmaur, Tiruchirappalli, Udaipur, Visakhapatnam. CAT 2022 scores are also allowed to be used by listed non-IIM member institutions. A list of such institutions is provided on the CAT website.
Eligibility: Applicant must hold Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of SC/ST/PwD categories]. Those appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. Those who have Completed professional degree (CA/CS/ICWA/Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of India (FIAI)) with required percentage can also apply.
Structure of CAT: CAT is a digital or Computer Based Test (CBT) where a candidate will read the questions on a computer terminal and choose an answer by clicking on the correct option. CAT 2022 will have three sections: Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension; Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Section III: Quantitative Ability. Candidate must answer the sections in a pre-specified order and this order will remain the same for all the candidates.
There will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and Non MCQs. All questions carry equal marks. Each correct answer is awarded 3 marks. An incorrect answer will result in loss of 1 mark. However, for non-MCQ type questions, no marks are deducted for incorrect answer. Details are available at www.iimcat.ac.in
Registration: CAT 2022 registration window opens at 10 a.m on August 3, 2022 at www.iimcat.ac.in and will close at 5 p.m. on September 14, 2022.
Registration Fees: Registration fee will be Rs. 1150/- for SC, ST and PwD category candidates and Rs. 2300/- for all other categories of candidates. An applicant needs to pay the registration fees only once, irrespective of the number of institutes he/she is applying for. At the time of registration, the candidates have to select any six test cities, as per their preference, from a drop-down menu. After the last date of registration, candidates will be allotted one among the six preferred cities subject to availability.
Candidates can download the admit cards from October 27, 2022 until November 27, 2022.
Result declaration is expected in the Second week of January, 2023 (Tentative). The CAT 2022 score is valid only till December 31, 2023.
