Kochi: As part of the implementation of the National Education Policy, the minimum age for class one admission in Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools from the academic year 2022-23 will be six years. Until the last academic year, it was five years.

CBSE schools also decided to adopt the same rules to follow National Education Policy 2020. The minimum age to get admission in state government schools is five years.

According to CBSE National Council Secretary General Dr Indira Rajan, admissions to pre-KG can be taken at the age of three. The rule is that a child who reaches the second class must have completed seven years of age and first class at six.

ICSE schools now admit children who have completed five years of age to the first class.
