Summer Fellowship at IIT Madras: Apply by Feb 28
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, has invited applications for admission to the Summer Fellowship Programme offered by it for 2018.
The Programme of two months with stipend is designed to enhance awareness and interest in high quality academic research among young Engineering, Management, Sciences and Humanities students through a goal oriented summer mini-project undertaken at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
Participating Engineering Departments are Aerospace, Applied Mechanics, Bio Technology, Chemical, Civil, Computer Science & Engg, Engineering Design, Electrical, Mechanical, Metallurgical & Materials and Ocean.
The Participating Science Departments are Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Departments of Humanities & Social Sciences and Management Studies are also participating in the scheme.
Period of the Project: Programme may commence on 16th May 2018 and continue up to 15th July 2018. The schedule may be flexible to suit student’s convenience.
Stipend: A sum of Rs.6000/- per month will be given as a stipend for a maximum period of 2 months.
Eligibility: Applicant should be pursuing 3rd year of B.E/ B.Tech/ B.Sc (Engg)/Integrated M.E/M.Tech programme or first Year of ME/M.Tech/M.Sc/M.A/MBA, with outstanding academic background in terms of high ranks in university examinations. IIT students are not eligible to apply.
Application: Applications can be submitted online at https://sfp.iitm.ac.in/, latest by 5 pm 28th February 2018.
Applications have to be submitted highlighting the academic performance and achievement including papers presented at seminars, projects executed, design contests participated, score/rank in Mathematics Olympiad and any other awards/distinctions obtained.
Applicant should create a login for the site to get started with the application process. Applicant should choose the option ‘Create new account’, in the user login menu, enter a login name of applicant’s choice and a valid email address. An email will be sent from email@example.com, for verification. Applicant should click on the link provided in the mail to validate the account and to login to set applicant’s password. Applicant may use this password along with the login name provided to login to this site. Applicant may change his/her password or request to reset the password on the portal. In case of difficulties, applicant may contact firstname.lastname@example.org for any support regarding this website.
Applicant should login to the site and follow the links in the numbered navigation menu on the left to fill the forms and upload the required files. Email alerts will be sent to the email address provided, every time applicant, uploads a document in this portal.
‘Edit Basic Profile’ menu contains 7 submenus (Programe type / Basic / Personal / HSC / UG / PG /Additional qualifying exam).
In the ‘Submit Application’ (one Application per user) menu, applicant should select the Department to which applicant wishes to apply. In each department three choices will be listed. Applicant can select the preference through this option. Electrical, Humanities and Management Departments need only the Project Proposal based on the area of interest. This will help the faculty to select applicants.
Letter issued by the Head of the Institution certifying that the applicant is a bonafide student has to be submitted. The Template for the Bonafide Certificate is available at the links given in the Notification at https://sfp.iitm.ac.in/
The documents to be uploaded include the mandatory Bonafide Certificate for all, 1 to 4/5/6th semester mark sheet for UG Regular Students, 3 to 4/5/6th semester mark sheet in case of lateral Entry Students, UG Consolidate / UG individual 8 sem. / PG 1/2nd Semester mark sheet for PG Students and Category Certificate for SC/ST students.
Physical printout of the application need not be sent to IIT Madras. However, applicant should generate a pdf file of the application and keep it for reference. Applicant should ensure that all the relevant data and enclosures are uploaded while applying.
