Scientists in Climate Science at IITM: Apply by February 11

IIT MadrasThe Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), an autonomous research organization fully funded by Ministry of Earth Sciences, New Delhi and a premiere research Institute to generate scientific knowledge in the field of meteorology and atmospheric sciences, functioning as a national centre for basic and applied research in monsoon meteorology, has invited applications from bright and talented candidates of Indian origin to fill 9 Scientist-B positions on regular basis.

Of the 9 positions, 3 are reserved for SC, 2 for ST and 4 for OBC.

Eligibility: Applicant should be an Indian National. Applicant should hold a Master’s degree in Meteorology / Atmospheric Sciences / Oceanography / Physics /Chemistry/ Geophysics with Meteorology as one of the subject / Mathematics / Applied Mathematics / Statistics/ with at least 60% marks from recognized University / Institute or should hold a B.E./B.Tech. / M.Tech degree in Electrical/ Electronics/ Electronics & Telecommunication/ Electrical & Electronics Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering / Civil Engineering from a recognized university/institution with at least 60% marks.

Desirable Qualification: A minimum of 3 years experience of research in atmospheric and/or oceanic sciences related to weather and climate (as evidenced by published papers); Proven understanding of any of the research areas viz. understanding of the Asian monsoon and its variability, land surface processes and their impact on monsoon, climate variability and climate change, experience in dynamics and thermodynamics of convection and interaction between clouds and environment, Atmospheric measurements, Aerosols, Atmospheric Radar Technology, Air Quality and pollutants and experience in Numerical Weather Prediction models.

Applicant should not be over 35 years of age as on 11th February 2019. Age relaxations of 5 years for applicants of SC / ST category, 3 years for those of OBC category are available. Age relaxation for Physically Handicapped and Ex-Serviceman are applicable as per the Central Government Rules. There is no age limit for IITM and Government employees.

Application: Application can be submitted online at http://www.tropmet.res.in, till 5 pm on 11 February 2019.

Those working in Government/semi Government/Autonomous organisation should apply through proper channel. They may however; send advance copy of application along with the enclosures which should reach the institute on or before the last date. If application is not routed through proper channel the candidate must produce the requisite ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their employer at the time of interview.

Applicant should arrange two letters of reference to be sent directly to; ‘Administrative Officer Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology Dr. HomiBhabha Road, Pashan, Pune- 411008’. Experience shall mean the experience in the relevant field acquired from a Government/Semi-govt./Autonomous/Research Organization after obtaining the minimum educational qualification asked for in the said category.

After submitting the online application, the hard copy of the application along with all necessary documents should be sent to ‘Administrative Officer Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology Dr. HomiBhabha Road, Pashan, Pune- 411008’, by Registered Post/ Speed Post only in an envelope, super-scribed, ‘Application for the post of Scientist- B’, to reach latest by 5 pm on 21 February 2019.

Those called for interview will be paid train fare as per Government of India norms. Candidates must produce all original documents as proof of details furnished in the application at the time of interview for verification and the same will be returned after verification.
