Research at Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology: Apply by December 27
Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, an Institute of National Importance under MHRD, Govt. of India, has invited applications for admission to the PhD Programme for the December Cycle, 2019-20.
Admissions will be offered in all disciplines of Engineering & Technology, Science, Architecture, Town & Regional Planning and Humanities & Social Sciences. The areas of research include Aerospace Engineering and Applied Mechanics; Architecture, Town and Regional Planning; Chemistry ; Civil Engineering; Computer Science and Technology; Earth Sciences; Electrical Engineering; Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering; Information Technology; Mathematics; Mechanical Engineering; Metallurgy and Materials Engineering; Mining Engineering; Physics. Research facilities are also available at Centre for Healthcare Science and Technology; Centre of Excellence in Green Energy and Sensor Systems; School of VLSI Technology; Dr M.N. Dastur School of Materials Science and Engineering; School of Community Science & Technology and School of Mechatronics & Robotics in specified areas.
Eligibility: Applicant should possess M.Tech. / M.E. / M.Sc.(Engg.) / M.Arch. / M.U.R.P. / M.Plan. / M.T.R.P. / M.Sc. / M.A. / M.Phil. or an equivalent postgraduate degree in the relevant branch from a recognized University/Institute with minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA on a ten point scale (throughout from class X to the qualifying degree). For SC/ST/ Person with Disability (PwD) category, a minimum 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA on 10 point scale (throughout from class X to the qualifying degree) is required.
Admissions will be offered under (i) Regular category with Institute fellowship (ii) Individual Fellowship (CSIR-NET JRF/UGC-NET JRF/ICMR/DSTINSPIRE etc.) (iii) Sponsored Research Project (iv) Sponsored Category.
Selection test: A written test (for screening) shall be conducted for all eligible candidates from 11 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on 8th January 2020. The test will have MCQs with 100 marks, out of which 70% questions will be from the subject area (in which the candidate has qualified GATE / NET), 20% questions will test the analytical ability and 10% questions for proficiency in English. In the test, each question will carry 01 (one) mark for a correct answer, and a negative mark of 0.25 for each incorrect answer.
Applicants are required to apply online only at www.iiests.ac.in, by 11.59 pm on 27th December, 2019. Application fee is Rs. 1500/- for OC/OBC (NCL)/EWS and Rs. 1000/- for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
