Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Jakkur, Bangalore-560 064, has invited applications for its Project Oriented Chemistry Education (POCE) and Project Oriented Biology Education (POBE) Programmes, 2019, being conducted as part of its Science Outreach Programme.
Project Oriented Chemistry Education (POCE) programme, for students studying in B. Sc first year (PCM), aims to explore their academic potential, stimulate deeper interest in science and infuse creativity and scientific temper amongst undergraduate students. Selected students will be given an opportunity to attend lectures, participate in laboratory projects and research. Specialization in advanced materials will be possible during the last year.
The POBE is initiated for undergraduate students from other Institutions. Selected students are exposed to the concepts and methodologies driving integrative research in biology today, through a combination of lectures, laboratory projects and research. Specialization in a more focused area of research will be possible during the second and third year.
Both the programme will be conducted during the summer vacation for a period of 6 to 8 weeks. Those selected are expected to work at the Centre for three consecutive summers. Successful candidates will receive a Diploma in Chemistry/ Diploma in Biology from the Centre. Those who complete the programmes with outstanding performance will be eligible for admission to the MS-PhD programme of the Centre concerned, subject to satisfactory performance in the interview.
Eligibility: For POCE, applicant should be presently studying in the 1st year of three year B.Sc programme only, preferably with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, (PCM) combination. For POBE, those presently studying in the 1st year of three year B.Sc programme only (in any science stream) are eligible to apply.
Fellowships: A maximum of 11 Fellowships will be offered with a scholarship of Rs.10000/- per month in each of POCE and POBE.

Selected candidates will be intimated by email and post. They must indicate their acceptance within two weeks of the email sent failing which, it will be presumed that they are not interested in joining the programme and the offer will be cancelled automatically. Any correspondence after the cancellation will not be entertained.
