PhD at Centre for Economic and Social Studies; apply by August 15
Centre for Economic and Social Studies; Nizamiah Observatory Campus, Begumpet, Hyderabad, Telangana -500016, has invited applications for admission to Ph.D Programme in Development Studies for the academic year 2019-20.
The Centre offers the Programme in collaboration with Telangana University, Nizamabad.
The Programme is offered in (i) Economics (ii) Sociology/Anthropology/Social Work (iii) Geography/Geo-Informatics (iv) Development Statistics (With Specialization in Econometrics) (v) Commerce & Business Management (Related to Research Areas of CESS).
Eligibility: Applicants should be below 35 years of age. Applicant should have a Post-Graduate Degree with at least 55 percent marks or its equivalent Grade [50 percent marks for SC/ST/ Differently-Abled categories] in the concerned subject from any recognized university or an M.Phil Degree in the subject concerned from any recognized university or should be those qualified in the National level tests in UGC-NET, for JRF, State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) or should be those under the UGC-FDP (Faculty Development Programme) and Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship holders.
Selection: Selection will be based on an Entrance Test to be conducted at CESS, Hyderabad from 11 am to 1 pm on 30th August 2019 and Interviews for those who qualify in the entrance test; from 10 am onwards on 31st August and 1st September 2019. The medium of examination for the Entrance Test shall be English only. Final selection will be based on marks in the entrance test (70% weightage) and marks in interview (30% weightage).

Application fee of Rs.1000/- has to be paid by way of a DD from any nationalized bank drawn in favour of ‘Director CESS’. It can also be paid at CESS at the time of submission of application.
Applicants are required to submit a research proposal of about 1500 words describing their research problem, objectives, tentative data sources and methodology of research along with their application.
