researchIndian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), a Deemed to be University, Thiruvananthapuram-695547, has invited applications from highly motivated students for admission to the Ph.D. Programme, January 2019 session.

Ph.D. Programmes are offered in the departments of (i) Aerospace Engineering (ii) Avionics (iii) Chemistry (iv) Earth and Space Sciences (v) Humanities (vi) Mathematics and (vii) Physics.

Applicant should be an Indian citizen and should be below 35 years of age, as on November 14, 2018. Age relaxation is applicable as per Government Rules. Research area in each department and the eligibility for admission are given in detail in the Notification available at http://admission.iist.ac.in.

All scholars selected to the programme specializations listed shall receive a fellowship of Rs.25000/- per month. Research Scholars selected with UGC/CSIR/NET-JRF/NBHM and State Government Science and Technology Scheme etc., shall draw fellowship from the concerned organizations. For all research scholars with external fellowship, the concerned rules and regulations apply.

The fellowship will be enhanced based on a performance review after two years of Research. The scholars will be required to assist the Departments in tutorials, practical training in labs or similar academic activities normally limited to 6 hours per week.

Applications can be submitted online at http://admission.iist.ac.in, latest by 23.45 hrs on November 14, 2018 (Wednesday). Application fee is Rs. 700/- per Department (Rs.350/- per Department for SC/ST/PD and Women applicants). If the applicant is eligible and wishes to apply for more than one Research Area in the same Department, he/she need not pay any additional application fee. Those who wish to apply to multiple departments will have to pay the appropriate application fee (sum of the application fee for each department). The application fee shall be paid, once enabled by the system one day after the registration, through ‘SBI Collect’ only. Application fee can be paid till 2330 hrs on November 15, 2018 (Thursday).

The Ph.D. written screening test will be held at 9.30 am on December 02, 2018 (Sunday) at Thiruvananthapuram, New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai. The duration of the test will be one and half hours. Details are given in the notification. Session begins on January 2, 2019 (Wednesday).
