NCVT affiliated Trades at ITIs
Kozhikode: Industrial Training Department under the Ministry of Labour and Skills, Government of Kerala, has invited applications for admission to the NCVT affiliated Trades in the Industrial Training Institutes in the state for courses starting on August 1, 2017.
There are courses available for those who have obtained Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Matric Trades) as well as those who have failed in SSLC (Non-Matric Trades). Courses of one year (2 semester) and 2 years (4 semesters) are available in ITIs. The A level 10th class equivalency examination conducted by the State Literacy Mission is treated as equivalent to SSLC.
For the Matric courses conducted by the ITIs in Kerala, students who have passed the school level Class 10 examination of CBSE will be considered. Students who have appeared for the school level CBSE Class X examination will be considered only for Non-Matric Trades. Students who have passed Secondary/Higher Secondary School Certificate from the National Institute of Open Schooling are also eligible subject to the conditions stipulated in government orders related to this.
Those who have appeared for SSLC as Private candidates and failed are not eligible for admission to ITIs.
The courses include Non Matric Trades (Engineering) of 2 semesters (1 year) [Sheet Metal Worker, Welder, Welder (GMAW & GTAW), Welder (Welding & Inspection), Welder (Pipe), General Carpenter, Sewing Technology] /4 semesters (2 years)[Wireman, Painter General], Matric Trades (Engineering) of 2 semesters (1 year)(Mechanic Tractor, Plastic Processing Operator, Mechanic Diesel, Mechanic-Auto-electrical and Electronics, Computer Hardware & Network Maintenance, Surveyor, Plumber, Interior Design & Decoration, Architectural Assistant] /4 semesters (2 years) [Draftsman (Mechanical), Electrician, Instrument Mechanic, Fitter, Turner, Machinist, Mechanic Moto Vehicle, Mechanic Agricultural Machinery, Information & Communication Technology System Maintenance, Tool & Die Maker (Press tools, Jigs & Fixtures), Tool & Die Maker (dies & Moulds), Draftsman Civil, Refrigeration & Air-conditioning, Electroplater, Electronics Mechanic, Technician, Power Electronics Systems, Mechanic- Machine Tools Maintenance, Mechanic-Medical Electronics] and Matric Trades (Non Engineering) of 2 semesters (1 year) [Dress Making, Food & Beverage Service Assistant, Assistant Tourist Guide, Front Office Assistant, Food Production (General), Dairying, Horticulture, Hospital House Keeping, Fashion Design & Technology, Computer Operator & Programming Assistant, Desktop Publishing Operator, Computer Aided Embroidery & Designing, Secretarial Practice (English), Stenographer & Secretarial Assistant (English), Stenographer & Secretarial Assistant (Hindi)].
How to apply
The details of the qualification needed for each trade, the application form to be used for each trade (Matric/Non Matric Form), the availability of the different trades in the 40 Government ITIs etc; are given in the Prospectus that can be downloaded from http://det.kerala.gov.in/images/17/day/ncvt1pro517.pdf
There are separate batches for SC/ST students. For applying to such batches applicants are required to get the applications from the concerned ITIs. Such batches are shown as SCP in the Prospectus against the concerned ITI.
There are some separate batches for Labour Welfare Board. Selection to these batches will be done by the Board themselves. Such batches are shown as LWF in the Prospectus against the colleges concerned. Those seeking admission to such seats should note ‘LWF’ at the right top corner of the application and submit the same to the ITI concerned. Two copies of the application are to be submitted with copies of relevant soucments to the Labour Welfare Department.
Applicant should have completed 14 years as on 31.7.2017. There is no upper age limit. Applicant should be physically fit.
Applicants should be permanent residents of Kerala. Those who have already studies in any Government ITI earlier are not eligible for another admission.
From among the students admitted to the sanctioned strength in each ITI, 50% students will be eligible for a monthly stipend of Rs.120/-, subject to the restrictions on the income of the parents.
Applications can be submitted till 5 pm on 24.6.2017. The filled application should reach the Principal of the ITIs by 5 pm on 24.6.2017.
Applications for admission to the Govt ITIs at Chakai, Dhanuvachapuram, Attingal, Kazhakootam (Womens), Aryanad have to be submitted online at the ‘Apply Online TVPM Dist only’ link, at http://det.kerala.gov.in/index.php/admissions-2016, latest by 5 pm on 24.6.2017. They should then take a printout of the same and remit the fee. The printout of their application along with other documents, should be submitted to the Principal of the ITI by 26.6.2018.
For ITIs in other districts, application can be downloaded from the website, filled and submitted along with the necessary documents to the Principals of the concerned ITI with the required application Fee. A person can submit more than one application for different trades in different ITIs. Separate applications have to be submitted for Matric and Non-Matric Trades.
Application Fee of Rs.50/- can be paid into the Head of Account ‘0230-00-L&E-800 Other Receipts- 88 Other Items’ or can be paid by way of Postal Order taken in the name of the Principal of the ITI concerned. Fee can also be remitted directly in the concerned ITIs. In case of Chalan payment, the original of the challan has to be submitted with the filled application. In case of Postal Order, the same is to be attached to the filled application.
Applicants will have to submit a self-addressed stamped (Rs.6/-) Post card along with the completed application to get the intimation regarding selection.
Selection list will be published 29.6.2017 at the ITIs. Admission will be made on 1.7.2017 and will be closed at 5 pm on 31.7.2017. Details related to the working times of the ITI, attendance needed for appearing for the All India Examinations on completion of the course, the process related to the preparation of merit list for admission, the reservation of seats, certificates/documents o be submitted with the application, fee structure are available in the Prospectus and at http://det.kerala.gov.in/index.php/admissions-2016.
Applications have been invited also for the SCVT Courses in Trades that do not have affiliation with the NCVT but are conducted as per the curriculum of SCVT, in Government ITIs in the state. Those completing these courses will get the STC Certificate which has been approved by the PSC as equivalent to the NTC for appointments to Kerala Government/Quasi Government/Public Sector undertakings.
The Programmes include the Matric Trades as well as the Non Matric Trades under SCVT Scheme. There are also Trades with Plus 2 qualification under SCVT Scheme. Courses under these categories are available for those who have completed Plus Two, and also for those who have passed SSLC or have got equivalent qualifications or for those who have failed in SSLC. There are 2 semester (1 year) and 4 semester (2 year) courses. Courses are available in a total of 75 Government IITs in the state. Applications can be submitted latest by 5 pm on 24.6.2017. Govt ITIs under the ‘Centre for excellence’ scheme
Applications have also been invited for admission to the 2 Government ITIs under the ‘Centre for excellence’ scheme introduced by the Government of India. Courses under different sector are conducted at Government ITI at Chandanathoppu (Kollam) in the Automobile Technology sector (126 seats) and at Govt ITI, Kalpetta, Wayanad in the Hospitality Management Sector (126 seats). Pass in SSLC/Equivalent is the eligibility for admission to the two year courses. The first 12 months will be devoted to basic modules while the next six months will be for advanced modules. Those who successfully complete the advanced module will get training for six months in approved industrial establishments.
The last date for submission of applications is 24.6.2017.
