M Tech (Evening) Kerala: Apply by July 13
Applications can be submitted till July 13, 2018, for admission to the M.Tech Degree (Evening) Course-2018, being conducted by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, for Graduate Engineers employed in Engineering Profession in and around Thiruvananthapuram, at College of Engineering Trivandrum, Thiruvananthapuram. The Degree will be awarded by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University.
The Branches, the specializations and the eligibility conditions are as follows:
- Civil Engineering: Environmental Engineering (18 seats); Structural Engineering (18): Eligibility: B.Tech Degree in Civil Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering: Machine Design (18), Propulsion Engineering (18); B.Tech Degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Production Engineering
- Electrical Engineering: Control Systems (18), Power Systems (18): B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering /Electrical & Electronics Engineering
- Electronics & Communication Engineering: Signal Processing (18), Microwave & TV Engineering (18); B.Tech Degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering /Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering.
If the number of candidates opted for any stream is less than half of the sanctioned intake, the course will not be offered.
Duration: The course is of 3 years (6 semesters) duration and will include Lectures, Laboratory works, Seminars, Project work and Thesis. Classes will be held from 6 pm to 9 pm, normally on 5 days a week.
Eligibility: Applicant should be an Indian National, having a Degree as indicated with minimum 60% marks (54% for SEBC candidates and 50% for SC/ST candidates). Only those belonging to SEBC category having annual income less than Rs 6 lakhs will be eligible for mark relaxation. There is no age limit.
Applicant should be a permanent employee in the Engineering profession in any one of (i) Government Service (ii) Semi-government organization (iii) Public or private Ltd. Companies registered under Company’s Act (iv) Private (Aided & Unaided) Engineering Colleges & Polytechnic Colleges (v) Establishments which come under the purview of ESI and Employees Provident Fund, having minimum 2 years of experience after passing the qualifying examination, at the time of applying. Full-time work experience including the period of probation, but excluding the period of apprenticeship training, for job shall be taken into account of experience.
In the absence of such permanent engineering professional applicants, employees in Nationalized banks will also be considered. Those who have passed AMIE/AMIETE are also eligible to apply if they have (i) 60% of the aggregate of section B of the AMIE/AMIETE Examination (ii) Professional experience of 2 years after acquiring the qualification in the field of specialization (iii) Valid GATE score in the respective branch.
10% of the seats (Maximum of 10 seats for all the branches together) will be reserved for SC/ST candidates. One seat is reserved for Ex-Servicemen in rotation to various branches. One seat in each stream will be reserved for employees working under Department of Technical Education except the teachers of Government Engineering Colleges.

Application form duly filled up, along with a Demand Draft for Rs. 700/- (Rs.350/- for SC/ST candidates) drawn preferably from State Bank of India in favour of the ‘Principal, College of Engineering Trivandrum, Thiruvananthapuram’, payable at State Bank of India (SBI), Engineering College Branch, Thiruvananthapuram-695016, along with self attested copies of (i) Degree Certificate (ii) Mark list for all semesters/consolidate final mark list of degree course (iii) Employment and conduct certificate from the present employer (original in the form prescribed in the application form) (iv) Relevant page of S.S.L.C book or equivalent certificate in proof of age (v) Community, Income and Nativity Certificate. (SEBC/SC/ST candidates only) (vi) Experience Certificate (vii) Service certificate for Govt. Servants (viii) Certificates in proof of the employment in public or private limited companies or establishments which come under the purview of ESI or EPF (Copy of Certificate of Incorporation duly attested by the head of the organization), should reach the Principal, M.Tech (Evening) courses, College of Engineering, Trivandrum, Thiruvananthapuram – 695016, by hand or through Registered Post by 5 pm on 16 July 2018.
Selection: The index mark for selection is calculated as the sum of the percentage of marks obtained in all semesters of B.Tech examination and 2 marks per year of qualifying experience up to a maximum of 20 marks. The date of issue of final semester mark list will be considered for counting the qualifying experience. No marks will be given for experience below six months. In the case of tie in the index marks, candidates having higher age will be given preference.
The Principal, College of Engineering, Trivandrum will do the selection of candidates. A rank list based on index mark will be prepared and published at the College of Engineering, Trivandrum and in the websites www.cet.ac.in and www.dtekerala.gov.in.
Rank List & Waiting List will be published on 18 July 2018. Admission will be from 8.30 am to 6 pm on 23 July 2018. Transfer Certificate and ‘No Objection Certificate’ are to be produced only at the time of admission. Fees payable by the student include Admission Fee of Rs. 1000/-; Tuition Fee of Rs.50000/- per annum; Special Fee of Rs. 5000/- per semester and Caution Deposit of Rs.2000/-(Refundable).
Vacancy Position will be published on 24 July 2018. Admission from waiting list will be from 8.30 am to 6 pm on 26 July 2018. Classes will commence on 1 August 2018.
