FMGE Screening Test: Apply by October 28
National Board of Examinations (NBE) has invited applications for admission to the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), the Screening Test as per Screening Test Regulations 2002 for the December 2020 session.
As per the regulations, ‘An Indian citizen/Overseas citizen of India possessing a primary medical qualification awarded by any medical institution outside India who is desirous of getting provisional or permanent registration with Medical Council of India or any State Medical Council on or after 15 March 2002 shall have to qualify a screening test conducted by the prescribed authority for that purpose as per the provisions of section 13 of the Act’.
Eligibility: Applicant must be a citizen of India or Overseas Citizen of India and should possess a primary medical qualification, which is confirmed by the Indian Embassy concerned, to be a recognized qualification for enrolment as medical practitioner in the country in which the institution awarding the said qualification is situated. The result of final examination for the said primary medical qualification should have been declared on or before 30th November 2020.
However, those seeking provisional or permanent registration in India shall not have to qualify the Screening Test if he/she holds an Under Graduate medical qualification from Australia/Canada/ New Zealand/United Kingdom/United States of America and the holder thereof has also been awarded a Post Graduate medical qualification in Australia/Canada/New Zealand/ United Kingdom/United States of America and has been recognized for enrolment as medical practitioner in that country. Eligibility of candidates who have obtained their primary medical qualification from Pakistan shall be subject to their security clearance from Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Govt of India.
There are no restrictions on number of attempts that can be availed by a candidate.
The Test: The Examination to be delivered using computer network will be held on 4th December 2020. It will have one paper, comprising 300 multiple choice, with single correct response questions in English language only, in two parts (150 questions in each part) to be taken in a single day. Part-I will be held from 9 am to 11.30 and Part-II from 2 pm to 4.30 pm.
The Syllabus for the test shall comprise of subjects /knowledge areas as per the Graduate Medical Education Regulations issued by Medical Council of India /Government of India. An extract of the same is provided in the Prospectus that can be downloaded from FMGE 2020 link at https://nbe.edu.in/. Each question carries one mark. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.
A candidate shall be declared as having passed only if he/she obtains a minimum of 150 marks out of 300 in the examination. Results (Pass/Fail) for eligible candidates will be displayed on NBE website.
Application: Applications can be submitted online at www.nbe.edu.in till 11.55 pm on 28th October 2020. Examination Fee is Rs.6490/- to be remitted online.
