FMGE on December 20: Apply by October 31
National Board of Examinations (NBE), has invited applications for the Screening Test for Indian Nationals with Foreign Medical qualifications, the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), to be held be held on 20 December 2019.
The FMGE-Screening Test has been introduced through Screening Test Regulations 2002. As per the regulations, ‘An Indian citizen/Overseas citizen of India possessing a primary medical qualification awarded by any medical institution outside India who is desirous of getting provisional or permanent registration with Medical Council of India or any State Medical Council on or after 15.03.2002 shall have to qualify a screening test conducted by the prescribed authority for that purpose as per the provisions of section 13 of the Act.
Eligibility: Applicant must be a citizen of India or Overseas Citizen of India. Applicant should possess a primary medical qualification, which is confirmed by the Indian Embassy concerned, to be a recognized qualification for enrolment as medical practitioner in the country in which the institution awarding the said qualification is situated. Cut-off date for obtaining the Primary Medical Qualification is 30th November 2019. It is mandatory to provide proof/documentary evidence in support of, the candidate having passed final examination for such a primary medical qualification/posses the primary medical qualification on or before the cut-off date. There are no restrictions on number of attempts that can be availed by an applicant.
However, those seeking provisional or permanent registration shall not have to qualify the Screening Test if he/she holds an Under Graduate medical qualification from Australia/Canada/New Zealand/United Kingdom/United States of America and also been awarded a Post Graduate medical qualification in Australia/Canada/New Zealand/ United Kingdom/United States of America and has been recognized for enrolment as medical practitioner in that country.
Scheme of Examination: FMGE consists of one paper, comprising 300 multiple choice, single correct response questions in English language only, delivered in two parts to be taken in a single day. Each part will have 150 questions, each to be answered in 150 minutes with a scheduled break between the two parts. There are no negative marks for wrong answers. Part-A will be from 9 am to 11.30 am and Part – B, from 2 pm to 4.30 pm. The examination will be a test delivered using computer network as per prescribed scheme. The Syllabus for the test will comprise of subjects /knowledge areas as per the Graduate Medical Education Regulations. FMGE 2019 will be conducted at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Dehradun, Faridabad, Greater Noida, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Mohali/Chandigarh, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Noida, Patna, Pune, Ranchi, Shillong, Thiruvananthapuram and Visakhapatnam.
Application: The online submission of application form for FMGE can be done at www.nbe.edu.in latest by 11.55 pm on 31st October 2019.
Application Fee: Application fee for the test is Rs. 5500/- excluding payment gateway charges as may be applicable. The prescribed registration fee should be remitted through payment gateway provided using a Credit Card or a Debit Card issued by banks of India or through Net Banking. At the end online submission of application form, the candidate will get a computer generated acknowledgment. This acknowledgment shall also be sent at the registered e-mail ID of the candidate. Candidates must preserve a hard copy of application form for future reference.
The option of editing the information entered in the application form shall be available to the bonafide candidates after the last date of online submission of application form for a period of 3-5 days. However, the following fields of the application form are non- editable-Mobile No., Email address, Testing City, Date of Birth, Gender and Nationality.
Admit card will be issued by 13th December, 2019.
The results for the test are likely to be declared by 20th January, 2020. An applicant will be declared as having passed only if he/she obtains a minimum of 150 marks out of 300 in the examination. Results (Pass/Fail) for eligible candidates will be displayed on NBE website. There is no provision for re-totalling/re-evaluation.
