Diploma in Elementary Education in Kerala: Apply by November 23
Applications have been invited for admission to the two year (4 semesters) Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) course in Govt/Aided and Private Self-financing Teacher Training Institutions in Kerala for 2020-21. There are 101 training institutions under the Government /Aided category and 94 under Self-financing category.
This is the eligibility training course for appointment as teachers in Lower Primary/Upper Primary schools.
Eligibility: Applicant should have passed the Pre- Degree Examination conducted by any of the Universities in Kerala or the Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Examinations, Kerala securing a minimum of 50% marks. Those of OBC category need only 45% while applicants of SC/ST categories, need only a pass in qualifying examination.
Those except SC/ST applicants who have taken more than three chances to pass the qualifying examination are not eligible for admission. Attempt at ‘Save a Year’ (SAY) Exam will also be treated as a chance.
Applicant should not be below 17 years of age nor should not be over 33 years as on 1.7.2021. OBC Category applicants will have a relaxation of 3 years and those of SC/ST, a relaxation of 5 years in upper age limit.
Of the total seats, 40%, 40%, 20% respectively will be allotted for Science, Humanities and Commerce streams.
Separate Notifications have been issued for Government/Aided Institutions and Self-financing Institutions. In Self-financing institutions, 50% seats are opens merit seats and the remaining, management seats.
Applications have to be submitted in the prescribed format available along with the Notifications at www.education.kerala.gov.in
For applying to Govt/Aided category, application fee is Rs.5/- and for Self-financing category, it is Rs.100/-. The fee has to be remitted as specified in the Notifications. In both categories, SC/ST applicants are exempted from payment of application fee.
An Applicant can apply to only one Revenue District in each of Government/Aided category and Self-financing category. The institution to which the applicant desires to be considered in the Revenue district has to be specified in the application in the order of preference. The list of institutions is available in the Notification. Application is to be submitted to the Deputy Director of Education of the revenue district to which application is being submitted latest by 23.11.2021. The addresses of the Deputy Directors of Education are given in the Notification.
For being considered for Management seats, separate application with the prescribed fee has to be submitted to the Management of the Institute. Details are available in the Notification. Last date is 23.11.2021.
