Diploma course in Dramatics at National School of Drama New Delhi
National School of Drama, an autonomous Institute under Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India; Bahawalpur House, Bhagwandas Road, New Delhi-110001, has invited applications for admission to its three-year full time-residential Diploma course in Dramatics for the academic year 2021-2024.
The course aims at training students to become professionals in the area of acting, design, direction and other theatre related disciplines. Medium of Instruction is Hindi / English.
Eligibility: Applicant should hold Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University in India or Abroad. Applicant should have participation in at least 6 different theatre productions. Working knowledge of Hindi / English is needed.
Age Limit: Applicant should be at least 18 years of age and should not be over 30 years as on 1.7.2021. The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC / ST.
Reservation: Out of 26 seats, 4 seats are reserved for SC, 2 for ST, 7 for OBC (Non Creamy Layer). Reservation for PwD will be as per Govt. of India rules.
Selection: Selection will be based on online admission-cum-interview. An Expert Committee constituted by NSD will assess the aptitude and talent of the candidates. NSD also reserves the right to shortlist a number of candidates for the online interview as well as interactive session on the basis of its own evaluation of the candidates in theatre and allied arts.
Financial Assistance: All selected students will be given a monthly scholarship of Rs. 9,500/- p.m. to meet their academic and related expenses.
Physical Fitness: The students selected for admission will be required to undergo a medical test for physical fitness in NSD campus/empanelled hospital whenever they join the on campus classes/activities in the School.
The first year of study at the NSD is an integrated course. In the second year of the course, students are required to opt for specialization in two disciplines- Acting, Design & Direction. The specialization opted in second year will continue in the final year.
Application: Application can be submitted online along with necessary documents on the link available at www.nsd.gov.in or at http://www.onlineadmission.nsd.gov.in latest by September 22, 2021. Document proof of the theatre experience such as certificate of participation, brochure, leaflet, newspaper clips etc have to be submitted with the application. Recommendation letter from at least one Theatre Expert is to be submitted.
Application fee of Rs.50/- is to be paid online through Net Banking, Credit Card or Debit Card. All the foreign nationals have to apply through Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi as per the norms in this regard.
Those who applied last year in February 2020 for the academic year 2020-23 and were short-listed (list at the website) need not apply again. NSD will also consider applications of last year's short-listed candidates, who have crossed maximum age limit this year, by giving them benefit of age relaxation.
