All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh, has invited applications for the Entrance Examination for admission to the ‘Certificate Course in High Altitude Medicine’ for the January 2020 Session.
The 6 months course aims at providing knowledge on the Physiological effects of the high altitude environment on the human body; Physiological basis of acclimatization to high altitude; Pathophysiological basis of high altitude illnesses; Treatment of high altitude illness as per internationally acceptable guidelines (The candidate must acquire the skill to diagnose and treat patients suffering HA illness); Strategies to prevent high altitude illness; Guidelines for travel to high altitude for special population groups like children, pregnant women, patients with cardio-respiratory disorders
Seats: There are 12 seats for the course of which 6 each are under the Medical (UR-5, OBC-1) category and Para-Medical (UR-05, OBC-1) category.
Eligibility: For Medical Candidate: MBBS or B.A.M.S/ B.H.MS, with one year experience. For Paramedical Candidate: B.Sc. Nursing or GNM with one-year experience, B.Sc. Paramedical, M.Sc. (Human Physiology). Those who are to appear/have appeared in qualifying examination are also eligible to apply, subject to declaration of results by 31st December, 2019.
Upper Age limit is 40 years as on 1st January, 2020, which is relaxable by 3 years for OBC Candidates, by 5 years for of SC/ST/PWD candidates. Upper age limit is not applicable to sponsored candidates.
Selection: Selections are made through written examination & interview. Stage I is the written test in the subject candidate has applied for. Question paper will consist of 80 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) carrying 80 marks and will be of 90 minutes duration. Each correct response will get a score of +1 mark. Each incorrect response will get a score of -1/3.
Stage II: Out of candidates who have secured 50 percentile or more marks in written test, (Stage-I), candidates 3 times number of seats advertised will be called for departmental clinical/practical/lab based assessment. This stage will carry 20 marks. Final result will be declared based on total marks obtained in stage-I and Stage-II Examination.
Application: Applications can be submitted online at http://www.aiimsrishikesh.edu.in, latest by 5 pm on 20th November, 2019 (Wednesday). Prospectus can also be downloaded from this site. Application fee for UR/OBC applicants is Rs.1500/- and that for SC/ST/EWs, Rs.1200/-. The amount can be paid through debit/credit card/Net Banking. PWD applicants are exempted from application fee.
Eligibility status of application will be displayed at the website on 25th November, 2019 (Monday). Admit cards will be available for download from 5th December, 2019 (Thursday). Written examination will be on 12th December 2019 (Thursday). Results are likely to be declared on 17th December 2019 (Tuesday). Departmental Assessment will be on 20th December 2019 (Friday). Final Result is expected on 24th December, 2019 (Tuesday). Academic session will commence on 1st January, 2020.
