Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh has invited applications for admission to the B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic) (2 years) and B.Sc. Nursing (4 Years- only for females) Programmes offered for 2019-20 academic year.
Seats: There are 93 seats for the B.Sc Nursing Programme (General-47, SC-14, ST-7, OBC-25, PwBD (horizontal)-5. For the Post Basic B Sc Nursing Programme, the number of seats is 62 of which 22 are open seats. There are 7 seats for SC, 4 for ST and 14 for OBC. 5 seats are reserved for PwBD horizontally. There are 15 seats for PGI Staff (Gen-9, SC-2, ST-1, OBC-3).
Eligibility: For B.Sc. Nursing (4 years) only females are eligible. Applicant should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English or any other examination as equivalent thereto with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Those who have appeared in 10+2 examination in April-May, 2019 can also apply for the course. Such applicants will be issued Admit card/Roll numbers only if they submit the certificates/marks sheet from the respective Boards of their having passed the 10+2 examination to the Principal, national Institute of Nursing Education (NINE) of PGIMER, 10 days before the date of the entrance examination.
Applicant should not be more than 25 years of age and not less than 17 years on 1st September, 2019. Applicant should not have been born before 1st September 1994 or after 1st September, 2002.
For B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic), applicant must have passed 10+2 or any other examination equivalent thereto and also General Nursing and Midwifery with minimum of 50% aggregate. Applicant must be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife qualified from a recognized Institute & registered with respective State Nursing Council as approved by Indian Nursing Council (INC) or substitute registration in case of male candidates fully qualified for nursing of men, women and children. Applicant should not be more than 45 years of age as on 1st September, 2019. Those born before 1st September, 1974 are not eligible. Age relaxation as per rules will be applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC and other reserved categories.
Entrance Test: Selection to the Programmes will be based on an Entrance Examination to be held at 10 am on 11.08.2019 at Chandigarh only. The Written test will have 100 objective type questions in English language. For B.Sc. Nursing Entrance Test, questions will be from Chemistry (25), Physics (25), Biology (25), English (15) and General knowledge/ Current affairs (10). Questions will be of Plus One & Plus Two standard.
The admission test for B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic) will have questions from Scientific Principles Applied In Nursing Practice & Trends in Nursing (10), Medical Surgical Nursing (including Anatomy and Physiology) (20), Child Health Nursing (15), Community Health Nursing including Nutrition (15), Obstetric Nursing and Midwifery (15), Mental Health Nursing (15) and General Knowledge (10). The questions will be of Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery Standard.
Each question carries one mark. Negative marking (0.25) will be done for wrong answers. Candidates must report at the examination centre one hour before the scheduled time of the start of exam.

General category candidates need score at the 50th percentile while SC/ST/OBC & PwBD applicants need the 45th percentile score to qualify in the entrance test.

Application fee for SC/ST candidates is Rs. 800/-. For all other categories, the application fee is Rs. 1000/-. PwBD candidates are exempted from payment of Application/Examination fee. The fee can be deposited latest by 10.07.2019 through the online payment gateway available at B.Sc. Nursing application portal http://pgimer.edu.in/PGIMER_PORTAL/PGIMERPORTAL/home.jsp.
Inservice Candidates are required to take the printout of the filled online application form and route their applications along with necessary documents through the employer. The online application form will be treated as advance copy.
Results of the Entrance Examination will be declared at 11 am on 13.08.2019. Counselling will be at 11 am on 19.08.2019. Candidates will be invited for interview strictly in order of merit in the respective merit lists based on the marks obtained by them in the entrance examination. The number of candidates to be called for the interview will be three times the total number of seats to be filled in each category from candidates who fulfil the cut of points.
Annual Tuition fee is Rs.250/- for both the courses.
The session for B.Sc. Nursing (4 years) and B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic) will commence on 1st September of each year.
Stipend / Scholarships: For the B.Sc. Nursing course, the Institute awards Rs.500/- per month as stipend during four years to all students. Students are required to execute bond to serve the PGIMER, Chandigarh and other Central Govt. Institutions only for a period of three years if offered a job within six months by any of the above mentioned institutes after the completion of the training, failing which, this condition of the bond will be in-operative after six months of the completion of the training. The students are required to open a Saving Bank Account with the SBI, Institute Branch.
