BSc Nursing and BSc Nursing Post Basic at PGIMER: Apply by June 20
Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) has invited applications for admission to the 4 years B.Sc. Nursing only for females and 2 years B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic) programmes for 2020-21.
Eligibility: For admission to the B.Sc. Nursing (4 years) only for females, applicant should have passed the 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English or any other examination as equivalent thereto with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Those appearing in 10+2 examination in April-May, 2020 can also apply for the course provisionally.
Applicant should not be more than 25 years and not less than 17 years on 1st September, 2020. Those born after 1st September, 2003 and before 1st September 1995 are not eligible.
For admission to the B.Sc. Nursing (Post-Basic), applicant must have passed 10+2 or any other examination equivalent. Applicant should have also passed General Nursing and Midwifery with minimum 50% aggregate and must be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife with respective State Nursing Council or substitute registration in case of male candidates. Age of the applicant must not be more than 45 years on 1st September, 2020. Those born before 1st September, 1975 are not eligible. Age relaxation as per rules will be applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC and other reserved categories.
Entrance: Selection to the Programme will be based on a Computer Based Entrance Test to be held from 9 am to 10.30 am on 28 July 2020 (Tuesday) at Ambala, Amritsar, Bathinda, Chandigarh (Tricity), Delhi (NCR), Hamirpur, Jalandhar, Jammu, Jodhpur and Ludhiana. The test will have 100 multiple choice question (MCQs) with four alternatives. For BSc Nursing Programme, there will be 25 questions each from Chemistry, Physics and Biology, 15 questions from English and 10 questions from General Knowledge/Current affairs. The syllabi will be of Ten Plus One & Plus Two standard.
For the CBT for Post Basic B.Sc Nursing, questions will be from Scientific Principles Applied in Nursing Practice & Trends in Nursing (10), Medical Surgical Nursing (including Anatomy and Physiology) (20), Child Health Nursing (15), Community Health Nursing including Nutrition (15), Obstetric Nursing and Midwifery (15), Mental Health Nursing (15) and General Knowledge (10). Questions will be based on the syllabus of Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery.
There will be Negative marking to the tune of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. General category applicants have to get score at the 50th percentile and SC/ST/OBC & PwBD applicants, the score at the 45th percentile.

Application fee for SC/ST Category is Rs.1200/- and that for all other categories is Rs.1500/-. Persons with Bench-mark Disabilities (PwBD) applicants are exempted from payment of fee. Application fee can be paid by 20 June 2020 through Debit / Credit Card / Net Banking.
There are 93 seats for the B.Sc Nursing Programmes of which 47 are under General category, 14 for SC, 7 for ST, 25 for OBC. There are 5 seats for PWBD under horizontal reservation.
For BSc Nursing (Post Basic), there are 62 seats (General- 22, SC-7, ST- 4, OBC-14, PGI Staff-15). There are 5 seats reserved for PWBD (Horizontal reservation).
Tuition fee per annum for both the courses is Rs.250/-. The Institute awards Rs.500/- per month as stipend during four years to all students admitted to B.Sc. Nursing (4 years). Students are required to execute bond to serve the PGIMER, Chandigarh and other Central Govt. Institutions only for a period of three years if offered a job within six months by any of the above mentioned institutes after the completion of the training.
