BS (Research) at IISc Bangalore: Apply by April 30
Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, a leading institution of higher learning with a strong tradition of research, has invited applications for admission to the four-year (8 semesters) Undergraduate Bachelor of Science (Research) Programme offered by the Institute for 2020.
The four-year Programme is designed as a balanced blend of core science and interdisciplinary topics to serve as a platform for attractive career opportunities in academia and industry. Those completing the requirements for the award of the Bachelor of Science (Research) degree will have the option of getting a Master of Science degree by studying at the Institute for a fifth year.
Six major disciplines are being offered: (1) Biology (2) Chemistry (3) Earth & Environmental Science (4) Materials (5) Mathematics (6) Physics. The major discipline chosen will appear in the degree certificate of each graduate.
Eligibility: Applicant should have completed II PUC / 12th Standard in 2019. Those who are expecting to complete their II PUC / 12th Standard in 2020 also are eligible to apply.
Applicant must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects during their II PUC / 12th Standard. Those who have studied Biology, Statistics, Electronics, Computer Science, etc., in addition to Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are also eligible to apply. Applicant must have secured a first class or 60% or equivalent grade in the II PUC / 12th Standard examination. SC/ST applicants need only a pass class for II PUC / 12th Standard examination.
Selection: Selection to the Programme will be based on the merit list of one of the following national examinations: KVPY-SA [appeared in 2018 and selected for the Fellowship], KVPY-SB [appeared in 2019 and selected for the Fellowship], KVPY-SX [appeared in 2019 and selected for the Fellowship], KVPY-SA [appeared in 2018] and SX [appeared in 2019] Fellows selected through the Empowerment Initiative for SC/ST candidates, IIT-JEE-Main [appearing in 2020 and securing a minimum of 60% (GN), 54 % (EWS), 54% (OBC-NCL), 30% (SC/ST/PwD)], IIT-JEE-Advanced [appearing in 2020 and securing a minimum of 60% (GN), 54 % (EWS), 54% (OBC-NCL), 30% (SC/ST/PwD)], and NEET-UG [appearing in 2020 and securing a minimum of 60% (GN), 54% (EWS), 54% (OBC-NCL), 30% (SC/ST/PwD)].
Separate merit lists will be prepared for each of these national examinations and the seats will be offered based on the performance in the examination and the number of seats available. An applicant who has qualified in multiple examinations will be included in all the concerned merit lists. Separate merit lists will be prepared for candidates belonging to different reserved categories, as per standard Government of India regulations.
Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Person with disability (PwD) and Kashmiri-Migrant (KM), Kashmiri Pandits/Kashmiri Hindu Families(Non Migrants) living in the Kashmir valley will be as per Government of India regulations.

Application fee is Rs. 500/- for GN/EWS/OBC/KM candidates and Rs. 250/-for SC/ST/PwD categories. Application fee can be paid online by Net-banking, Visa Card/ Master Card, Debit/Credit Cards.
Annual Tuition Fee is Rs.10000/- The tuition fee is fully waived for SC/ST candidates. There are other fees also payable by selected students.
There are 120 seats that will be allotted to general and special categories as per Government regulations.
