The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, an all India Institution declared as Deemed to be University, and an Institutes of Eminence, as recently announced by MHRD, Govt. of India, has invited applications for admissions to all the Integrated First Degree programmes of BITS, Pilani, at Pilani campus, Goa campus, and Hyderabad Campus for the academic year 2019-20.
Admissions to all campuses and courses will be made on the basis of a Computer based Online Test conducted by BITS, Pilani, the ‘BITS Admission Test-2019’ (BITSAT-2019).

BITS, Pilani-K. K. Birla Goa Campus: B.E.: Chemical, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics & Instrumentation, Mechanical; M.Sc.: Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, Physics.
BITS, Pilani-Hyderabad Campus: B.E.: Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics & Instrumentation, Mechanical; B.Pharm.; M.Sc.: Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematics, Physics.
Eligibility: For admission to all the above programmes except B. Pharm, applicant should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
For admission to B. Pharm: Applicant should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics.
Applicant should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects (if he/she has taken Mathematics in BITSAT) or a minimum of aggregate 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects (if he/she has taken Biology in BITSAT) in 12th examination, with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/ Biology subjects.
Applicants should have adequate proficiency in English.
Only Students who are appearing for 12th examination in 2019 or who have passed 12th Examination in 2018 are eligible to appear in the BITSAT-2019. If a candidate has taken more than one attempt in 12th class or its equivalent, only his latest performance is considered, provided this attempt has been for the full component of subjects/courses prescribed. Those who have passed 12th examination in 2017 or earlier are not eligible to appear in BITSAT-2019. Those presently studying in BITS at any of its campuses are not eligible to appear in BITSAT-2019.
Admissions will be made purely on merit. The merit position of the candidate for admission will be based on the score obtained by the candidate in the BITSAT-2019. However, their eligibility for admission is subject to fulfilling the requirement of minimum marks in 12th examination, as mentioned above.
Direct Admission to Board Toppers: First rank students of all the central and state boards in India for the year 2019 will be given direct admission to the program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT-2019 score subject to the eligibility criteria prescribed. Details about this scheme will be available at BITS admission website by 15th May, 2019.
Details of BITSAT-2019: For BITSAT, the candidate sits in front of a computer. Questions are presented on the computer monitor and the candidate answers the questions on the computer through the use of keyboard or mouse. Each computer is connected to a server, which prepares the question set and delivers it to the candidate on the computer.
BITSAT-2019 will be offered over a period of time and the candidate can choose the Center, the day and time of his/her convenience to take the test. The list of Test Centres is given in the BITSAT Brochure. The candidate can choose the centers from within India or Dubai. If a candidate chooses centers within India, he/she will be required to give three preferences and will be allotted one out of these three. If a candidate chooses Dubai as a center, he/she will not be asked for any other center preference and will be allotted Dubai center only.
BITSAT-2019 will be of 3-hour duration without break. The test consists of objective type (multiple choice questions) in four parts, Part I : Physics; Part II : Chemistry; Part III : (a) English Proficiency and (b) Logical Reasoning and Part IV : Mathematics or Biology (For B. Pharm candidates). The number of questions will be 40 each from Physics and Chemistry, 45 from Mathematics/Biology; 15 from English Proficiency and 10 from Logical Reasoning. The total number of questions is 150. If a candidate answers all the 150 questions (without skipping any question), the candidate will have an option of attempting 12 (twelve) extra questions, if there is still time left. These extra questions will be from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology only; four questions from each part. Further, once the candidate has opted for extra questions, he/she cannot go back for correction of any of the earlier answered 150 questions.
Syllabus: : BITSAT-2019 questions will be on the basis of NCERT syllabus for 11th and 12th classes. The detailed syllabus is given in the Annexure to the Brochure of BITSAT that can be downloaded from http://bitsadmission.com/bitsatmain.aspx. Candidates may refer to the NCERT textbooks for the contents. A sample test demonstrating the features of BITSAT-2019 will be made available to the registered candidates at the BITS admission website on which he/she can practice as many times as desired.
Scoring: Each question will have four answers, only one being correct choice. Each correct answer fgets3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark (-1 mark). No marks are awarded for questions not attempted. While the candidate can skip a question, the computer will not allow the candidate to choose more than one option as correct answer.
All the questions and instructions of the test will be in English only. Candidates should bring a pen for the purpose of rough work, signing etc. Blank sheets for rough work will be provided, if required. Calculators and logarithmic tables are not allowed in the test centers. Candidates are not allowed to bring any other personal belongings to the centre.
Score of BITSAT: At the completion of the test, the computer will announce the result to the candidate in terms of number of total correct answers and wrong answers, with the score. The candidate can also check his/her score report at the BITS admission website on the next day of his/her test date. The candidate can also take a printout of the score report for any further usage. No student will be allowed to repeat the test in the same year.
Application: Applications can be submitted online at http://www.bitsadmission.com, latest by 5 pm on 20.3.2019. Application fee is Rs. 3150/- for males and Rs. 2650/- for females. If a candidate chooses Dubai as a test center the application fee for both male and female candidates will be same and will be US $80 (Rs.5600). Details for payment of fees are available at the admission website. Applicant may take the printout of the filled-in form for future reference.
Revision/editing (online) in the application form can be done by candidates during 22nd to 25th March, 2019. Test center allotment and announcement to candidates will be made on 27th March 2019. Candidates will be required to reserve Test date and slot during 28th March to 8th April 2019. Candidates have to download the Hall tickets with instructions between 12th April and 13th May 2019.
Those interested in admissions will have to apply for admission with 12th marks and Preferences of courses and campuses during 16th May and 18th June 2019. Admit list and Wait list be announced on 20th June 2019.
