Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) 2021: Apply by July 31
Applications have been invited for the Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) 2021 for the award of 'DBT-Junior Research Fellowship' (DBT-JRF) to pursue research in frontier areas of Biotechnology across the country.
Based on the performance in BET 2021, candidates will be shortlisted under Category-I and Category-II of the DBT-JRF Programme. Candidates shortlisted under Category-I will be eligible to avail fellowship at any recognized University/Institution across India, where the candidate registers for Ph.D. Programme within two years from the date of issuance of award letter. Those selected under Category II will not be eligible for any fellowship from the DBT-JRF programme, but will be eligible to be appointed in any DBT sponsored project and enrol for Ph.D. programme as per institutional norms, subject to selection through the institutional selection process. Selection in Category-II.
Eligibility: Applicant should hold a Bachelors (B.E./ B.Tech.) and Masters (M.Sc./ M.Tech./ M.VSc./ Integrated M.Sc./M.Tech.) in any discipline of Biotechnology, Life-Sciences or any other allied areas of Biology. Those admitted in any of the M.Sc./ M.Tech./ M.VSc./ M.Sc.(Agri) programmes supported under the DBT Post Graduate Teaching Programme shall be eligible to apply. Those who are yet to appear in the final semester examination or awaiting the result of the final semester examination are also eligible to apply.
Applicant should have a minimum of 60% marks (55% of marks for SC/ ST/ Differently Abled) in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in the qualifying examination.
Age Limit: Applicants of the General & EWS category should not be over 28 years of age as on 31.7.2021. Age relaxation of up to 5 years (33 years) is available for SC/ ST/ Differently Abled/ Women candidates and up to 3 years (31 years) for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.
BET Structure: BET 2021 Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) 2021 to be held from 3 pm to 6 pm on 14 August 2021 (Saturday), will be in English only. It will comprise Multiple Choice Questions in 2 sections. Section-A will comprise 50 compulsory questions of the 10+2 level from General Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, General Aptitude, Analytical, Quantitative Ability and General Biotechnology. Section-B will comprise 150 questions of specific areas in Biotechnology from which 50 questions are to be attempted by a candidate. In both parts, each question carries 3 marks. Applicants may opt for any four different cities of their choice from the options provided in the application form. The application fee is Rs.1200/- (Rs 600/- by SC/ ST/ PWD candidates) can be paid online by 11.50 pm on 31.7.2021.
